A couple of things to address in 2010....
Just thought Id raise a couple of off-field subjects as a little diversion from the wonderfulness happening on the ground atm. Both these issues need attention during the off-season IMHO
1. Making the Dome look like home.
I went to the Essendon Dogs game on Friday night and was amazed at the amount of effort Essendon go to to dress ES up as a Bomber venue. The footbridge has giant posters of players lining it and speakers play highlights of previous games. All the big poles are wrapped in pictures of their players and when it got dark, a huge Bomber logo is projected onto the stadium beside the video screen. The only down side is the very tacky and insensitive air-raid siren they use as the team runs out (wonder if they used it on ANZAC day?)
Even North and the Bulldogs hang flags of past greats from the roof..while we do nothing. Even the days of a Saint doing the pre-game warmup are gone…is James Sherry even a Saints fan or just a dude-for-hire???
We need to approach the Club in the off-season and address this IMHO
2. Live site for Interstate games
This has been handled particularly badly IMO. The Club announce the Sea baths at St Kilda with great pomp and ceremony, only to find out it doesn’t have Foxtel!!! We have to get this right in 2010. There is no way a leading Melbourne club like us should not have a place where fans can gather, create a bit of match-day atmosphere and watch the Saints play. Very unprofessional
Thoughts/suggestions??

St kilda football club need to make sure this venue has Foxtel and pay for it ourselves if we need to,
keep the venue the same , just add Foxtel,
too easy!

Have to agree.
I just can't understand, how a professional AFL club, does not have a venue to watch away games, even home games for that matter. It would be a nice little money spinner for them if nothing else. Have a venue that holds 4-500 people, big screen,a massive saints atmosphere.
License to print money, and catering for your supporters that want some atmosphere. It's pathetic.
Can't complain about anything the club has done on the field this year, that's the main priority....however the club is very bland to say the least when it comes to everything else. We need to generate some passion out of this extraordinary start to the season.
How much would it cost them to put old season highlights up on the big screen each week? Memories of plugger,Moorabbin, big wins, etc....give us something other than a chick playing the bagpipes as we walk over the bridge(not bagging her...she's quite pretty)!

On point 2
Maybe once the saints training is out of Moorabbin converting a section of the old offices adjoining the social club into a view venue to watch games ?
Also on anther point a pub somewhere you would think be a great idea to put it's handup and contact the pub to be the official interstate venue, you would think it would be exclusive enough to afford foxtel.

Re: A couple of things to address in 2010....
I like your first point, North went to similar efforts earlier in the year when we played them. Giant posters hanging up their cheer squad end, and North stuff everywhere. Video's playing on the big screen, made for a great atmosphere (if you were a North supporter)saint66au wrote:Just thought Id raise a couple of off-field subjects as a little diversion from the wonderfulness happening on the ground atm. The Sea Baths told the Club they would get Foxtel but then elected not to stump up the $15k for the Foxtel feed.
Hardly the Club's fault if they were led astray...
As for the images and theming at the stadium great idea, but do we have the $10k per home game that the Bombers are putting in for each home game ?
And Jonesy, tell where the Tigers members watch their games at Punt Road Oval or elsewhere ? Or the Hawks for that matter ? Where do their members watch the game ?
Pathetic, unprofessional or just the reality that the Club's focus is on winning games of football not running Clubs & Pubs...

sometimes previous game- sometimes from years past
I noted on leaving the stadium On Sunday that the words Etihad were playing against the stdium on the Docks side- but again being inside don't know what played there during the game?
one of the selling poitns for the stadium was the sound meter- lights outside the stadium that rose or changed depending on the noise- BUT again being isndie I've nver noted these
agree on the Sea baths- they ( along with other venues around the state-) promsied and then pulled back when the account was seen-the Sea baths are again advertising Football- is it just free to air games. they did advertise the Saints Cats game.
I'd be careful of disclosing Rogers access in WA- unless someone gets wind of how it's done- similiar to online broadcast options--- may be BEST not to know in public forums

Well that's pathetic of those clubs also. Heaven forbid a club try and look after it's supporters, what a ridiculous ideaGreatNo9s wrote: And Jonesy, tell where the Tigers members watch their games at Punt Road Oval or elsewhere ? No true, not the Clubs fault if they were shafted by the venue, but surely when negotiations were in place the cost of Foxtel was known....and the importance of having it if you are gonna call yourself a "live site"GreatNo9s wrote:The Sea Baths told the Club they would get Foxtel but then elected not to stump up the $15k for the Foxtel feed.

Hey I'm not suggesting that we go to all the trouble and cost that Essendon do, they are a cash cow after all,..but if the destitute Kangas and Doggies can go to a bit of trouble, surely we can do something to stamp our brand on the place 11 times a year?
Just throwing the ideas out there
