It wasn't that many years ago that many of our supporters used to bag Goddard - constantly.
That makes them poor judges of emerging talent, but does it make them racist?

If Cyril Rioli, Adam Goodes or Andrew McLeod were at this club, they would be adored by the same people criticising Raph.

Andy Lovett, Peter Burgoyne or Daniel Wells are a few footballers who I think would divide supporters in the same way Raph does.

There are supporters who can only be won over by consistent good performances.

Ask Goddard, Dal Santo, Milne, Blake... ask any footballer regardless of race who's had to cop the brunt of supporters' frustrations - there's only one thing that can shut these people up - form.

We all become frustrated with footballers who obviously have an enormous amount of potential but, for whatever reason, cannot string together decent performances. We become frustrated with these footballers a lot more than those who just aren't very good.

For the most part, it has absolutely nothing to do with race.
