scene 1:When he gets some form or more to the point when Ross thinks Lukes working hard enough.

scene 2: Probably work his way back in this week after resting his groin for a week

The question should be is he in the best 22 at the moment.

Depends if this was due to form, or due to attitude. Form, you think he would have a run with Sandy at least for this week coming....if it's otherwise, I would be concerned if one week would not be enough to spark something.

I cant see the club announcing his dropping was form related and then calling him back when he hasnt had a game in the two's.

IF he doesnt play at Sandy next....the 'hide an injury' brigade will ramp up....

This week, Dal mentioned a tiny bit in an interview in the pregame show on foxtel. Saying he thinks Ball will be back this week, or something to that effect. His reason for him being out was the same as Hutchison gave, 'spoken to coaches on what needs to be done' blah blah.

The thing is I dont think he is resting his groin. The word is he is training harder than anyone else to get his fitness back to where it should be.

I don't see that happening either. I seriously doubt they'd say what they said (him being "dropped, for form issues") about such a respected clubman and former captain and B&F winner, if it wasn't the case. Maybe they figured he'd benefit from a week off to freshen up mentally and physically and to prepare himself for the next few weeks in the VFL. We'll see soon enough, though. Whatever happens, he'll come back better and hungrier.

I agree he may need to freshen up or for that matter have a rest. I thought Armitage was his replacement but didn't see him on the weekend. I understand Dave is still recovering but I thought he would get a run considering they play much the same. Obviously I'm not comparing a B&F wineer and Captain as being the same but you know what I mean. A midfielder for a midfielder. In saying that there didn't look like there was much need for the like against adelaide.

May not be much need for Armo this week, either, but I agree he is the most like Bally and may even give us more than Bally has been recently. He'd want to do something pretty soon, though, since they said before he was drafted (top 10, in the "best draft ever) that he was a "ready made AFL player", like they said about Rich last year.

I heard this the other day it in all honesty it sounded plausible and might just work....

It goes along the lines of Luke Ball knowing that even after his best pre-season since joining the club he still can't win the battle against his groin. With st.Kilda, being in the best position they've been in for the last 12-33 years to win a flag Ball is giving himself a bit of a rest, easing the tension on his groin, maximising his fitness and give this finals series everything that he physically has, and i mean everything. This strategy would be at the expense of his career, and if he recks his playing body as a result, and the saints get the chocolates, he retires from football.

I love Bally, and reckon he's a top sainter who absolutely bleeds red white and black, however i would be so upset if he wasnt in the squad next year if we were the reigning premiers.

Sounds plausible?

Are you slightly lacking in brain capacity?

At 25 years old, a year or two before his prime..he will retire...

At the very worst he will continue this years form into the next couple of years, and as far as i can see it 14/15 of his games has been deserving of a top 22 spot...

Whether his form is down through just having a bad patch or through injury,

the point is it is down and he should have being dropped. If his name was

Clarke, Eddy or someone of similar ilk people would be shouting from the

top of Etihad Stadium to drop them. If he's injured he shouldn't be coming

back and if it's form than he should play with Sandy this week.

He wasn't missed on the weekend and players have definitely jumped in

front of him as preferred midfielders. I only hope he can get his form back

because the saints will only be better with 7 class midfielders instead of 6.

Easy to claim he wouldn't be missed against s poor Adelaide outfit (missing 2 of its best mids), and when we win by 10 goals....

Would you honestly have said it would have been positive to be missing him at full fitness against Geelong....

the resting groin/increasing training intensity before tapering just before finals theory makes sense if we consider the first weekend he was dropped Scorpions had a bye. mean a forced rest from game pressure... enables increased training intensity, before rejoining Scorpions for a few weeks and reintroduced just before finals. Good planning Saints.

He will be in line behind Geary at the moment.
