Most of the HATE is race hate.
As Fireman said some people can critisise the player as a player and praise him when playing well - nothing wrong with that.
However idiots like these old cancerous arseholes would be if not overt - at least latent racists.
They can get farked and I hope they have miserable lives taking their medications and wearing their Depends incontinence pads.
Stupid old racist see you next tuesdays.
Lance or James??

Stinger, I was just about to post asking if anybody on here has actually heard anything racial directed at Raph.stinger wrote:Winmarvellous wrote:I'm sorry.. but to throw in the racist call beacause of Raph is wrong. I can honestly say I've never heard anything of that nature with most of the criticism of Raph that I've heard being with regard to his poor decision making and turnovers.
I'll let anyone have their say and their rants if that's what it takes for them to enjoy the game, but if I hear anything of a racial nature I'll be responding with my two bob's worth.
Racial vilification is not acceptable on the field or off. It has no place in this day and age, either at the football or in society in general.
Let's all have our own opinions of Raph as a player, but let us all stand together in support of him if its becoming racial. That's just not on.
Anyone else on here able to say they have heard these sorts of comments first hand?
if anyone thought there was a problem with raphs game today, they're the ones with the problem. Raph was suberb, if he consistently played like that he would be making a case for top 10 at the club. It looked like he was gaining some confidence, and started to take the game on, and it was brilliant. Noone should be forced to listen to any criticisms of raphs game today as he did not make a single error.
Its rubbish like what solar had to listen to that should be infuriating for supporters of AFL. It seems like the people solar was sitting with have a vendetta that they cannot drop no matter what clarke does. If anything, i thought today raph showed every time he went near it why he should be picked, not the other way round.
also, im not the biggest fan of raphs form so far this year, but i can acknowledge when he plays he part and when he plays it well

Never, not even once have I heard Raph racially abused at the footy.
The last time I heard a player racially vilified by a supporter was Carl Lewis at Princess Park many, many years ago.
Cannot believe people could be so ignorant in this day and age.
And, solar, the day you let a couple of old hicks keep you away from something you love is the day you let them win.
Man up.

They are also the types who kept Howard in Government - and we know the results with our $670 BILLION of Net Foreign Debt crippling our economy, the ASX and our Superannuation accruals.
Right wing neo nazis if you ask me.
And the reason we have the "society" we have today and are reading the headlines we unfortunately read.
We had a period of 11 years where racism and labelling was the cornerstone of the government of the day, from "boat people" and "illegal immigrants" thru to the last desperate act of "intervention".
The majority of the Australian public had woken up (including by voting Howard himself out) - but the one in three rusted on "Liberal" voters are still amongst us venting their collective spleens at anyone of a different culture.
All you do to these types is look them in the eye, tell them they are fortunately closer to the end of their lives and that Australia will be a better place when the last nail is knocked into their coffin.

Don't be so bloody precious.
Different people have different interpretations of the concept of supporting a team. For some it becomes somewhat of a religious devotion (leading to unwarranted sensitivity and defensiveness) and for others it is just a team to follow so they can go to the footy and vent their frustrations each week. I'd say the healthy option is in the middle of the two. It is absolutely ridiculous to allow your day ruined by a couple of whiny old farts.

Chris Lewis, of course.
I was in my teens and the amount of abuse he copped from Carlton supporters that day was frightening.
How anyone, player or not, can put up with that is beyond me.
Why do you let it worry you Solar?
There are always going to be ignorant people at the footy. There were 32,000 at the game today, you can't expect everybody to see footy the same way as you. For example people will always yell at one of our players to kick it long regardless of how many defenders have dropped back and then a second later criticise the same player for turning it over because they've kicked it to a 4 on 1. You can either waste your breath trying to explain to them that we had to hold on to the ball because the opposition had 18 men inside our 50 or let it go.
You really need to learn how to take the latter option.
For what it's worth I agree with you about Raph but it's not the point really. It's how you deal with it and I can't understand why you let them get to you.
I do take exception to the ridiculous notion that's it race related though.
I happen to think Raph cops a raw deal and is never anywhere near as bad as people make out but I've got plenty of friends and family who take the opposing view. According to Stinger that makes them racist.

Ah yes ,, that old chestnut.
Just because the persons race may be different or there from a minority group ,, god forbid should i have an opinion referring to said person.
Should i even dream of going ,,, oh ,, for christ sakes grammy !!!!! who'd ya kick that too ,, would i be seen as getting stuck into a Gippslander ?
But god forbid should Grammy be an indigenous chap ,, I would automatically be seen as racist .
I have had people pull this on me before , at work , in the pub , different places.
Too many people are quick to pull the race or ethnic minority card ,,
Give it a bloody rest I reckon ,, either that or go save a bloody whale.

Yep got plenty to do with footy. Keep your stupid political opinions to the other forum. As for people abusing Raph being because he is Aboriginal I totally disagree. I think some think he just isnt a good player just like some want Blake dropped weekly or Jimmy or CJ when he started. I hate abusing players but isnt it reverse racism to claim we are abusing Raph because we are racist. Does that mean we can only abuse white players? To the top wrote:They are also the types who kept Howard in Government - and we know the results with our $670 BILLION of Net Foreign Debt crippling our economy, the ASX and our Superannuation accruals.
