Our lowest is highest

Post: # 778072Post Enrico_Misso »

Everyone raves about our miserly defence and quite rightly so.

But it is time to give our forwards some credit as well.
Our lowest score this year is 80 points.

To put that into context
1) Stk 80
2) Bulldogs 76 against us
3) Geel 65
4) Sydney 63 (65 against us)
5) Carlton 60
6) Ess 57
7) WCE 56
8) Adel 48 against us
9) Haw 45
10) Coll 40 against us
11) Port 36 against us
12) Rich 36 against us
13) Melb 34
14) Brisb 33
15) North 24
16) Freo 13 (28 against us)

That is a powerful measure of how consistent our forward line has been all season.
The fact that 5 of the other teams lowest scores were against us indicates how well the backline has been going.
In fact how consistent the whole team has been.

And our lowest score in 2009 of 80 points is not much below our average score from the last couple of years.
What a remarkable turnaround at both ends of the ground.

And five of the other 15 teams have kicked their lowest score for the year against us. It was seven teams until Sydney folded yesterday and Freo kicked 1.7 last week.

Yep, in 2007 I think we scored 100 points six times (I could be wrong)

Last year it was eight or nine (again, possibly could be more, I could be wrong)

This year, we have failed to score 100 points just seven times. Those seven times we have scored 80, 83, 90, 90, 91, 92, 97

and those are all the ones we set, or where close to. we kept freo to 28 points too... that 13 points still boggles me. the crows aren't that good... are they?.. ... :)

According to the first post, Richmond scored 33 against one team?

Their lowest score after their 5.6.36 against us has been 8.15.63 against the Doggies in Round 3.
Richmond have been consistently in the 80 - 90 point range this year. They've scored between 80 and 99 points in 10 of thier 16 games. But they've only cracked the ton once. Surprising for a team that's only won four games.

Poor finishing skills, they're competitive but just can't seem to get over the line.

Thanks St.B.
I misread the score.

I have fixed the original post - also shows which scores were against us.
A pretty telling statistic.

If we did, could we say we had beaten anyone above us?

Personally I don't think we could withstand the pressure.

We'd get flogged by the Saints.

Thankfully we don't meet them in the last 6 rounds.

I know this is a bitof fun - but seriously - how do you think our forward structure would go against our backs - sorry to say it but I think our backs would win out. If you look at where most of the shots at goal are that our opposition have had - they are mostly around he 50mtr arc - and they have been lucky to convert from there - especially as accurately as some teams have. I dont know that Roo, Schneider and Milne would be as accurate.

Thank God we have them wearing the tri-band of triumph!
