Listened to the game on the radio and noticed plenty of booing in the final quarter when the Saints kicked it around. Was that our supporters booing our players at our ground or was it frustrated Crows fans? It sounded loud on the radio like it must have been our fans. Or were they booing the Crows for bottling it up?

St Kilda was about 10 goals up with the 4 points in the bag and the commentators said that Adelaide was in some kind of scoreboard preservation mode (they lost around 5% points today) and it was difficult for the Saints to penetrate their defence.

St Kilda obviously has no need for percentage but has a need to conserve energy and restrict injury so kicking it around is probaby a sensible strategy.

I'm not a big fan of kicking it around/backwards but if its a switch or patient setup or a strategic response to circumstances is it a booable offence? It couldn't have looked good and certainly wouldn't have been entertaining. Could the Saints have approached it another way?

Saints shut up shop with about 5 minutes to go. Crows weren't trying, Saints were just waiting for the siren.

Didn't really phase me, there was nothing left to gain from that match.

Normally that sort of "kick to kick" mode results in a turnover, but the Crows had completely given up.

I was sitting at the Crows end and and it was the Saints supporters who were booing. Don't worry, I was booing as well because they deserved it for getting 5 thousand disposals in their forward 50.

Hi, I was at the ground today in the mighty Moorabbin Wing and it certainly sounded suspiciously loud to be only Adelaide supporters.

Personally it made my blood boil. How dare people call themselves supporters then boo their own team. What a bunch of hypocrites that would make us.

I too hate the time wasting when games are close. But when we lie awake at night pondering "what would be worse? A loss or injuries?" I was quite pleased to see some settling play. It did not last long and yet again we come out relatively unscathed and with some quite fresh legs.

I really REALLY hope I am wrong and it was only opposition supporters being grumpy losers.

Shame in them.

Whilst I agree that sort of football is negative and poor to watch.
There is a much bigger picture.
We had achieved a great win and I think it perfectly reasonable to play that sort of football.
Run the game out and keep fresh for next week.

There are much bigger eggs to fry.
Besides executing that "boring" football might come in handy holding a slim lead with two minutes to play - all good practise.

Most of our supporters have no idea when this happens. Our medical staff have realised that the majority of soft tissue injuries happen in the last five minutes of quarters when the players are tired. They have been instructed to hold the ball up when we are well in front, rather than risk injuries to our stars. People just don't get it, leave it to the experts, they know what they are doing, i mean we are 16 and nil after all

Some people just expect the team to attack, attack, attack. I don't suppose they realise that they have had a pretty hard 3 weeks and heaven forbid they try to conserve their energy leading up to a 6 day break

I was at the game (& what a game it was - Adelaide had all of the potency that Richmond showed against us a few weeks back!!).

Yup, the saints put the cue in the rack halfway through the final term and why not. The game was well and truly over, we had an emphatic victory, so why not take it easy. A well earned break! (unlike Geelong we don't take a week off, just a few minutes in the final quarter & we did not lose control of the ball or the game).

The only disappointment was the goal just on the siren - it would have been nice if that kick was a few seconds later!

I get annoyed when our suporters start booing "tempo footy" - it is now an important part of the game plan to be in control and to play the game on our terms. So what if we need to chip around a bit and hold possession until there is a chance to break into the forward 50. It seems to work!!! We are winning, are we not!

Lets savor the win and the magnificent pressure that was applied & recognise that our game plan, including the tempo footy moments, have us as the clear (by 2 games!) leader of the comp.

I would have like to have seen some more direct play in the second quarter but not the last. They had 18 back, we would have had to fire it to pack mark and Kosi and Nick would have killed each other. When you're 10 up in the last and the other team goes defensive, well it's time to rack up the possies.

We are going through the greatest winning streak our club is EVER likely to complete in our lifetime and people are booing?

Today was an awesome performance. Completely dismantled a club which has genuine top 4 pretensions.

This team will go down in history as one of the best St Kilda sides ever. We should simply be grateful that we are here to witness it.

Yep...I have to say that I vented my spleen at a couple of ignorant Moorabbin-Wingers today..and Im not ashamed to admit it

ANYONE who boo's their own players for playing a game style that doesnt agree with them, while we are the best team in the comp so far this year by a fair margin is pig-ignorant and does NOT deserve to share in any Premiership glory that may or may not come our way this year.

The justification for the booing was frightening "Oh blind Freddy could see Eddy was on his own..why not kick it to him and not go backwards"??? was the response I got when I dished out my spray..sheesh..and these people call themselves supporters!!!!!

Now as for the location of this booing...from my vantage point there was without doubt some coming from behind our goals...so anyone in the CS or those reserved seats care to admit they booed??? Oh and this was not sarcastic or humorous this was genuine booing aimed at OUR BLOODY TEAM!!!!!!!

Really sickened me Im afraid...its the overriding memory Ive taken with me from a game that showed once again we can go all the way this year

That's pretty amusing. Especially given that his presser indicated that the instruction came down from the coaches box - in case anyone had any doubts.

It's unbelievable the number who continue to complain when things are going so well. I reckon if you're not enjoying St Kilda football now, you probably never will. You've got to question why you're going to games if you're just complaining your way through ten goal victories.

Incorrect. The idea that, despite Nick and Kosi, you a can never ever kick to a contest is bizarre and negates our advantage over the rest of the comp. Just as well Luke Ball didn't think that way two weeks ago. It is the judicious use of the precision kick/long kick to the square, that is the issue.
