St Kilda's only premiership vs Doggies only premiership
It seems to me that St Kilda cops far more sh#t for having won only 1 premiership than the Western Bulldogs do....is this my imagination or do other people find this as well? And if so, why?

Doggies had numerous premierships in the VFA before joining the VFL, we had none and we founded the bloody thing.saintlee wrote:It seems to me that St Kilda cops far more sh#t for having won only 1 premiership than the Western Bulldogs do....is this my imagination or do other people find this as well? you will find the dogs have 1 premiership in 55 years like us, but they won a fair few back from 1890-1930
they have 9 or 10, something like that.

"Another storied win in Robert Harvey's career. They say he is the embodiment of their motto of strength through loyalty, and on the day he became just the tenth man to play 350 league games the saints reward him with a seemingly impossible victory."

Yep. The Victorian Football Association was established in 1877. The Foundation Senior clubs were Albert Park, Carlton, East Melbourne, Essendon, Geelong, Hotham, Melbourne, St. Kilda and West Melbourne.Ice Wolf wrote:...Doggies had numerous premierships in the VFA before joining the VFL, we had none and we founded the bloody thing.
Footscray won 9 VFA premierships. We never managed to finish in the top four. Hey, the Saints were the party club!
all prior to them joining the vfl bar one......saintdooley wrote:you will find the dogs have 1 premiership in 55 years like us, but they won a fair few back from 1890-1930

People give us shyte for winning so many spoons, but to me it's a miracle that the club survived. 7 out of the first 8 VFL spoons and 9 by 1910. It could so easily have gone the way of University, East Melbourne, Albert Park and West Melbourne.
We copped another 7 spoons out 13 between 1943 and 1955 and another 7 out of 12 between 1977 and 1988. The others were in 1920, 1924 and 2000.
That's 23 out of the 26 in three eras. 1897 - 1910, 1943 - 1955 and 1977 - 1988.

I've mentioned this before ,, even though Doggies should never be in a position to give us stick , I love it when one does .
my mate is the same age as me ,,, I always shut him up with ,,
"We may have only won one Premiership as well ,, but at least ours was in my lifetime"

We lost 98 out of our first 100 games. Bloody miracle that the St.Kilda Football Club survived.
