Well , yes..but if you throw him in our midfield IM sure we would still be 15 zip, and BC would be revealing in our midfield. Then it all becomes about BC, at least in many peoples eyes, the BC banter intensifies......its just not good for any team...just a scenario I could imagine that Id hate to have to hear thrown up all the time.
So in essence, its worked out sweet

What was the post the other week?
If Ben Cousins had been selected by St Kilda, Andrew McQualter wouldn't have played in Round 1.
McQualter wouldn't have kicked that crucial goal against the Swans off the ground that ignited us, and instead Cousins would have done his hammy in the 2nd quarter and with Raph being injured, we would have been 2 men down.
Without that magic goal and with 2 short on the bench, we would have lost to the Swans ... then gone over to Adelaide low on confidence and been beaten as normal at AAMI.
We would have come back 0-2 with huge pressure on the coach ...
The post went on (whoever wrote it should re-post it), but I think it makes a valid point.
Hypothetically if we had Ben Cousins we would not be 15-0 IMO.

Either way, we should have dropped Raph before this happened!saint66au wrote:Or imagine we lost to Geelong by less than a kick because Ben's notorious hammy gave out at 3/4 time and we were left one rotation short on the bench in the last quarter of a GFImagine if we got done by Geelong by less than a kick in the GF and just a bit more depth in the midfield would have made the difference.

Pathetical?...isnt that the term use to describe posters who log on with multiple aliases, bag our current coach repeatedly, bore us all with how much they "dont like footy/saints anymore" and who re-hash old topics in the hope they appear controversial for some attention?rodgerfox wrote:You're obviously not familiar with the term 'hypothetical'.SENsaintsational wrote:No need for regurgitated history lessons.
Cousins was not taken for what he brings OFF field, not ON.
Move on. He never came.
sad really.

Reckon I was on the money with the probable outcome
Let's go on hypotheticals and the butterfly effect on this...
Cuz plays round 1 for us. In spot of McQualters.
Raph does hammy,so does Cuz. Down to two on the bench.
McQualters game breaking goal in the third is never kicked,as Cuz has his spot, and he's sitting on the pine with a torn Hammy.
With only 2 on the bench we try hard all night to bridge the 5 goal gap Sydney opened up with, but we run out of legs without enough rotation options.
Sydney hold on by 8 points. The team is deflated after round 1
Travel to football park in round 2 with zero confidence. We put in our usual(pre 09 juggernaut) lack of confidence interstate effort, and get rolled by 7 goals by an ugly crows outfit.
Dal is playing more like he's in an audition for so you think you can dance skirting outside the packs. Kosi is moping around the forward line and the bench with his head down wondering why the world is against him.
Rewoildt misses 4 set shots from 25-35 out,and he starts looking to handpass at every opportunity.Milne is held kickless interstate again
0-2 start to the season.
Lyon wields the axe. Dal Santo dropped ala 08. Gilbert who struggled all through 08 has been dropped in an attempt to find his 07 form. He breaks his leg in the two's that week and will miss 12.
Lyon decides to flood the contest and try and choke the life out of West Coast. We register our first win of the year, winning 9.10.64 to 7.8.50. Most of the 16,785 fans walk away scratching there head at witnessing some more of early 08's snooze fest.
Because of the heavy flood and uncertainty amongst the playing group, they start corralling again. Lenny Hayes hates this, but he's the ultimate pro so he plays to instruction. However his frustration gets to him and he throws a punch at Kerr and cops a 3 week suspension.
Word filters in the next day that Dal only has 11 touches for Sandi and rumours are rife he'll be at Essendon next year.
We happen to beat freo next in round 4,again another ugly match ,like some of the 08 wins that seemed like losses. Kosi's horror form has continued,he looks set to be dropped.
Round 5 Port at AAMi. Nothing unusual here, another 67 point walloping by the Power. They're players throw ours around like rag dolls. Chad Cornes has 36 possesions and takes 15 marks. Pearce kicks 5
We only manage 1 goal after half time.
The rumblings about Lyon get louder
Round 6-
A fast and highly skilled bulldog side are too much for the corralling negative saints. A 57 point loss,Aker kicks 5. Rewoildt kicks 1.6 and starts abusing some of our players on the field.
Only 23,234 turn up,most of them dog supporters.
Round 7- Collingwood destroy us on monday night at the Dome, they jump us. We have no avenue forward,we corral our opponents continually, chip backwards with no vision of actually going forward. The team is now a shambles, arguments on the ground, discussions with opposition clubs behind the scenes, most want out.
Mid week wednesday Ross Lyon is dramatically sacked by Westaway due to the disunity in the team, lack of entertainment provided to the supporters and being 2-5 and languishing 3rd last.
Thursday- Ken Sheldon is reappointed as caretaker coach. He introduces a system when any player that turns up late to training they are fined, like he did in 90. Gards doesn't show ..something about a tip off about the random drug testers. He and Benny are seen staggering out of Revolver the next morning at 8.43am,with Tuppence Moran.
The losses continue.
Round 10 verse the demons at Carrara,we are smashed by the hapless demons by 81 points. Rewoildt decides not to get the flight home with the team, infact he's decided to quit the club and live back on the Gold Coast and resume playing in 2012 for the coasters.
Leigh Fisher is made captain
9412 people turn up for the game against North, dools is the only member of the cheer squad left, and half way through the second he gives up and walks down to the other end and joins the North cheer squad and joins in with there chants.
1 week later Westaway pulls the pin on Stkilda's license in the AFL,and says we're relocating to Tasmania in 2010. We forfiet the rest of the season.
november 2009 the Tasmanian governement says they'd rather be without a side than have the saints represent there state, and the StKilda.F.C is sent to it's death.
The fans walk the streets aimlessly each day. Barks4eva is seen continoulsy headbutting a signpost repeatedly crying "farting at thunder..farting at thunder".
Stinger and Joffaboy have signed up as carlton members and scream for Juddy each week. They both have a Juddy tatoo
In closing,I don't think Cosuins would of been a good fit into our midfield when you look at it like that
Bring back the Lockett era
