Re. Dempster, I remember seeing him take a mark at CHF in the first, a bit of defensive work in the second half, a couple of runs.
All in all nothing much, but IMO will be better for the run. I think he is an important player to get into form for the finals. Despite being reasonably tall he play on the small defender. Baker is our only other specialist at that and I fear that his days are numbered.

He had his hands on the pill 22 times.
Perhaps some of the dills posting on here that having the ball in your posession 22 times is an average game may care to comment on Baker or Ball or Hayes and all the others who did not put themselves in a position to actually take control of the ball on 22 occasions.
You see, before you can use it you have to actually get your hands on it.
And Clarke obviously did that. Plus, when he had it his opponent did not have it.
From getting your hands on the ball that many times you then go to the stats for efficiency - and that is where the 82% and 1 clanger come into play.
Mind you Baker's efficiency rate was 100% in the first half - because he did not even touch the pill.
So the dills on here will say that Baker's 100% efficiency makes him a better performer on the day than Clarke with 82%.
Many on here are wearing dark coloured glasses when it comes to Clarke because, as a 189cm defender (in other words he is not small - he is actually a big man) doing a job in the back 6 with Fisher, Blake, Gilbert, Dawson and the super efficient, popular hero, Baker, he is filling the role very well matching up on who he is matched up on and complimenting the skills of the other defenders.
Mind you, the dills critical of the attributes of Clarke (and his brother, incidentally) have also been critical of Gardiner, Gram, Koschitzke and a raft of other quality and irreplacable footballers on St Kilda's list.
And they have been proven wrong on every single occasion.

it's all mental for clarke right now, still not making the right decision every time but he wasn't alone. Boy if this guy gets his confidence up our backline looks unbeatable!

What exactly did I "get"? A bit of a scolding from sycophants like yourself? Ouch.degruch wrote:Got what he deserved.White Winmar wrote:Yes OLB, I followed with alarm your recent travails. When does the trial start for the war crimes you committed?

Now, I'm not a fan of the SANFL but I'm guessing that's an amateur comp where players must not receive much criticism.
The AFL is a national competition where under-performing players are criticised daily in papers, television and on fan forums. Go through the opposition forum as well and you'll find criticism of players from opposing sides.
I'm reading your posts and it gives me the impression that the criticism may be bringing you to tears. Am I right?
I'm sorry but this is not that tin-pot competition you follow so I do apologise if it causes any offence.

Ringo Starr was a crap drummer.... Paul played drums on many tracks...
As a whole, the Beatles were No1.
No-one ever suggested Ringo should be dropped for Charlie Watts, Tony Brock, or Jon Bonham.
It's frustrating at times, but with 15 wins we MUST just hold our tongues and accept winning is a total of the whole.
Go Saints!

Everyone is entitled to their opinion on Raph Clarke.
In the first half I thought Raph Clarke was shocking. He was not alone but that doesn't excuse his game.
After halftime he was good, clean with disposal, went in hard, and actually played a very good bacmans game considering Zac was off even in the second half.
Interesting the usual vendetta driven Raph haters are up and about.
Even more interesting that one of the usual suspects uses Gerard Healys words to justify his opinion (which BTW Healy was correct) but then wont balance that with the words of Taylor who was fullsome in praise of raph in the last quarter as he organised his defence and shut down attacks.
After all while Healy is a Brownlow medallist, Taylor is a Coleman Medallist winner and would know about good defending.
All in all it is the usual rgid and intolerant generalised arguments that have become de rigour for one particularily inarticulate poster, who has shown that he has an agenda toward Raph with his second hatefest in a week.
Shameful and a disgrace.

Haha 10/10 Would definitely read again. *patting joffaboy on the head*
I felt like a proud dad reading that. You've come a long way, son.
Raph Clarke apologists, sycophants, and our resident cry baby out in force.
Hopefully Raph can have a better game next week if he stays in the team but looking at Lyon's reaction after Raph kicked it out on the full I am not so sure this time.
Watching the replay he didn't do a thing wrong in the second half, besides another strange moment similar to his howler against Geelong which has been highlighted in this thread already where he opted to push the ball forward when it was probably easier to collect.
Whether his good second half is enough to excuse his first half, time will tell.
If not, let him find form and confidence in the VFL and then come back better prepared so we might see performances more similar to his late 2008 form.

I am sick and tired of the Clarke bashers on this so called fan forum. FFS yeah he made a few mistakes in the first half, but his direct opponent Le Cras, who has been very good this year for the eagles hardly looked dangerous. Plus there were a few players who were far worse than Raph but don't face anywhere near the same scrutiny, Bakes, Bally, Kosi, Mcevoy, Gram, Gilbo, even Lenny had far worse games. Some of Raphs handballs in very tight situations were brilliant, he continually fed the ball out and got us going. Get off his back and start supporting him or p1ss off!!
You really do not understand the game do you, you tiresome, sycophantic cocksmoker.degruch wrote:Only one clanger kick, that makes 82% disposal efficiency. Not bad. Well, I don't understand much of what you're dribbling once again. I can use stats to prove a point, then I can't use stats to prove a point, I have to use my eyes to really tell, possessions have nothing to do with it but last week he didn't have enough, 82% disposal efficiency looks great but is actually poor, then some irrelevant tirade about the SANFL...what are you on about matey?OLB wrote:You really do not understand the game do you, you tiresome, sycophantic cocksmoker.degruch wrote:Only one clanger kick, that makes 82% disposal efficiency. I'll make it simple for ya...you don't seem to like Raph Clarke, there's no reason for it, you just don't. This has nothing to do with football, so stop carrying on like it does and give it a rest.
