Those catters, they like to complain:
"The result'd be different in the rain,
And if we had Ottens,
And Stevey J back, we've got 'em''
Can't wait til we smash them again!
One fine Sunday night, round bout lunch,
Those all-conquering cats we did thump,
But our captain kept cool,
and didn't go off like a fool,
Just a satisfied look and fist pump.
I've spent twenty years hoping and wishing,
Wondering if I should've resorted to fishing,
But after fourteen straight,
We're locked in the eight,
This September, the team's on a mission!
(I APOLOGISE FOR THE LAME FORCED RHYME)

The round was number fourteen
Docklands is where we lay our scene
Undefeated they met
On a ground slightly wet
Steve Johnson was nowhere to be seen
Enter a big ruckman
Who when the game began
Won the tap
Made the crowd clap
And cheer wherever he ran
When the game was on the line
And there to define
The ball was roosted
Gardiner felt boosted
And pulled down a mark divine
Poor Harry Taylor was knocked out
And Geelong fans did pout
He was stretchered away
The umpire resumed play
And Big Mick put the game beyond doubt
Many excuses Geelong fans have made
Believing advantage should not have been paid
But at the end of the day
And a marvelous display
On top the mighty Sainters have stayed
Docklands is where we lay our scene
Undefeated they met
On a ground slightly wet

There once was a websitemarkinUSA wrote:This year we'll win the Cup
So try to see it closeup
We'll shed many a tear
And drink plenty of beer
The long wait finally is up.
Where sainters would like to fight,
About Raph and his clangers,
And how good was banger,
And everyone thinks that they're right.
And one for today.
There once was a bloke called Raph Clarke,
Who most posters don't want on the park,
While many debate,
His disposal ain't great,
Quite honestly I couldn't give a F***.

Yep good idea Iceman, was going to give it a bump myself!
Will post a pic of what I had in mind for the great prize ASAP and fire up all the budding poets again
In fact ....I'll tell you all!
what I had in mind is a quite valuable piece of memorabilia....
not only Sainter Memorabilia but this photo that has become an Icon in Australian Sport....
see the bottom left of my avatar for the corner of it .....
I will frame up an original hand-signed photo
"the" photo.....of the great
Nicky "Elvis" Winmar
famously lifting the jumper to the Collingwood fans signed a little while ago for me and in my presence by the man himself!
I'll post a pic ASAP!
So get to it folks , just a simple 5 line traditional limerick will suffice, you only have a couple of weeks to go!
The competition is pretty good but not unbeatable at this time-on stage of the game
Have a read of what's been penned so far

A leader of men with a Phar Lap-sized heart
Whose workrate and effort are off the chart
And in time history will remember
That glorious September
When he tore the finals apart
*Bump*
