I've gohen 180 degrees from writing him off to thinking he's majorly important for us now.
What a game the big fella played today. His physical presence is just so strong. And that mark to seal the game. Fox showed it threee or four times in slo-mo and his attack and intent at the pill were so fierce. His eyes never left the footy.
Lovin' the big fella. :D

I think it was Q3 I thought him and Kosi were both going to be carted off to hospital going for the same mark.

HUGE at the ball today, the big fella.

Lyon on Gardiner (from afl.com.au)

“As the entry went in I thought it was a reasonable decision. There wasn’t a lay-up lead that we’d hit a fair bit throughout the day,â€

Great piece of recruiting.

In his heyday at the Coasters he was an all-Australian superstar.

That was
-before his knee problems, and
-before his off-field problems and
-before Dean Cox usurped him.

Ok it has taken a couple of years.
But his body now seems fine.
He hasn't put a foot wrong off-field.
He is clearly our #1 ruckman.
And he can still do damage around the ground.

In the 4th quarter he doesn't get any shorter and his height and experience came to the fore.

He is a huge wildcard for us.

And when King comes back he can spend more time creating havoc up forward.

To think his broken foot could've ended his career.

Gehrig emerged from scans yesterday saying he was "as sweet as a bun"

Oh, and Happy Birthday....in fact I am sure it was happy!

Look the guy has got his body right, he could still potentially have a good couple of years left in him. He is 30, with the right management....

MG,what a game,and what a mark

I'll put my hand up to writing him off in the preseason. I had some mail that said he wasn't doing the right thing off the ground, and I thought he was well and truly washed up.

glad to be wrong

Well done Gardi, fantastic! I was so happy for him when he took that mark (and kicked the goal). The best high pressure mark I've seen since Leo Barry in the GF. Good on him! And he was written off by so many (as Goose is, at the moment). Just goes to show what's possible, when the will's there.

And although it was not Balls best game - he seemed to get two clearances in the last - and passed the ball to THAT pack - value!
It was a brilliant mark - Gardner was unstoppable.
Oddly they had 44 more possies - mostly running backwards I reckon :)

This is a team game and there is no room for individuals who think they are above walking through the fire.

he he...

I backed the decision to recruit him from the get go.
Thought he was gone at the end of last year.

His effort this year has been brilliant. Super valueable.

That game yesterday. Seriously what can you say?

"Now the ball is loose, it gives St. Kilda a rough chance. Black. Good handpass. Voss. Schwarze now, the defender, can run and from a long way".....

i was pretty happy when we got him
i thought finally!!
a ruckman

then once that foot started again i too thought he was gone
i mean ya feet wont let ya run and jump u are stuffed.

he was amazing yesterday.....great 30th prezzie for him.
just goes to show that if people have faith in themselves and have the right people to help them with recovery from injuries anything can happen

great game...inspirational mark at the end.
i nearly collapsed....it was just draining mentally
