Umpires were pathetic!! What was the Milne free kick for?

Post: # 768933Post RodKeoghsLoveChild »

The last few minutes when milne got penalized really just about made me explode in a rage that would have made Hoddle Street look tame!!

Those fken umpires gave away some ridiculous free kicks!! Ablett 50 was a joke and another player who contested a mark yet gave away a 50 was bloody pathetic!

I may have had rose coloured glasses on but the free kick count looked pretty one sided!!

and in saying that ...14-0 baby!!

How does that feel geelong??

Umpires were trying to get geelong over the line.

Its funny. My wife and her Dad were complaining after the game about the umpiring whan a friend came over and we won why do we even worry. Enjoy knocking off the best side and I agree.

Well I reckon they were quick to ping our players, and slow to ping theirs. Especially for holding the ball.

They were just inconsistent for my liking. Nothing sinister.

i thought we got a few critical decisions in our favour, and few critical ones in theirs.

by and large it was an outstanding game with outstanding skills.

Its hard to fault anyone.

umpires again by and large let the game run free.

What about the shocker against Milne in the first quarter ?!!? I had turned away since he had the ball next thing I know its taken off him ... stopped our initial burst momentum IMHO ..

To say nothing about that GIFT to Ablett not long after ... FFS ..

Yeah the Lenny one was super bad - right on the boundary line maybe over standing up whilst being tackled by 3 geelong players with absolutely no chance to get rid of the ball whatsoever and ....... he gets pinged

10+ posts and still no one can say why Milney was done in the last ???

the milne one made about as much sense as throwing your own child off the westgate bridge.
sometimes you just have to scratch your head and move on.

Agree. Seemed like geelong had an age to get rid of the ball.

no idea what the 50 was in the first quarter

the milne one was crap

the cats can spin 360 degrees and not get pinged, we grab the ball and it's holding the ball.

Geelong forwards can jump early, take out the defender and it's play on. Riewoldt is pushed in the back and it's play on. You barely touch some players and it's a free.....

It matters because one day it will cost us and I'm sick to death seeing my players working their arseoff just for the pricks in yellow to take it off them. It was crap and obvious!

you can still be critical of the umpires win lose or draw.
I will always call it as it is and still enjoy the win.

We had an umpire with us today. He called it as he saw it, defended some of the decisions we thought were suss but at the end of the game agreed that the umpiring was poor and that there were a number of bad decisions, mostly against us.

But WE WON!!!!!!!

That Milne "play- on" free kick was ridiculous as he was about to kick the ball into our F50 and didn't take an overly long time following the call to play on.

There were also 2 free kick goals to the Cats in the 1st quarter that were too technical .

One was a 50 metre penalty to Ablett when CJ sensed and duly reacted to Ablett moving off his mark.
A big price to pay .. for what wasn't even a small crime at worst.

The other was to Varcoe I think when Dawson breezed past him and made the slightest incidental contact - it wasn't late, varcoe just kicked the ball I thought and no real contact was made.

2 very technical goals that kept the Cats on the scoreboard - they were the only 2 goals in fact kicked by them to quarter time.

Umpire claimed Milne dragged his Geelong opponent down as he went down!

I will have to watch it again, in the heat of the battle I thought heaps of calls were unfair....perhaps a lot of that was emotion based, but I agree the Hayes call was shocking and James Kelly has got away with a bit the last few weeks.

Dont see anyone complaining about the "advantage" Geelong got when it was 13.7 apiece inside their attackling 50 when there was absolutely no advantage to them?

We cleared it and ran it up for the Gardiner goal.

Look at the game without being too one eyed.

Lance or James??

Just saw it again on the replay, no point trying to understand it as you will go crazy trying to work it out, it was just a real shocker of a decision

Yep looked wrong to me. I think the umpire thought he brought him down but it didnt really look like it. Made no difference though.
