How do we measure the result today?

Win / Loss / Spirited Loss / Smashing .... just what is acceptable?

Only a matter of hours until we find out what kind of contest we are going to deliver up.

Hopefully our boys have built on previous experiences, including last years finals games where we got smashed in contested football, and our leaders did not step up to the challenge.

The game today is pivotal towards our finals charge, and will mentally have a big impact in shaping September.

The 10 key questions for mine today are:

1. Can Riewoldt stand up?
2. Can the saints midfield curb Geelong's impact?
3. Can our small forwards have an impact?
4. Will we score more than 100 points?
5. Will we stand up playing on the big stage?
6. Will our backline be able to create enough attacking opportunities?
7. Will Dal Santo play well in a big game?
8. Can our bottom 6 stand up?
9. Do we have a wilcard?
10. Can we match the physical pressure of the Cats?

Today I expect to need to win atleast 8 out of the 10 KPI's. I have indicated. Just who is the #1 team in the competition?. Today says plenty.

I have big confident in our playing group that we have overcome both demons of the past, and the chokers tag. Come on Saints go all out, and put in 110% effort today, and show the doubters of the competition that we are going to be a serious finals threat.

all those questions are on my mind as well. well put and very succinct.

I think quesetion 1, 3 and 7 are on my mind the most and have been since the Qfinal last year.

I think we can succeed and "tick the box" on all of these questions tonight if we put our best foot forward.

My biggest query is backline skill under pressure. We know what happens when we put opposition backlines under severe offensive pressure. So far this year, our backs have absorbed whatever has been thrown and eventually found a way to attack. Geelong are likely to ratchet up that pressure a notch or two. If our backs stand up, the result will follow. I've seen little this year to suggest that they won't. We'll know in 6 hours.

1 tackle count - 70+
2 contested possession +15
3 kicking efficiency through the roof.


Do that and we'll win handsomely.
