Game over alright.
Very ordinary effort so far.
I think I can see why some of these guty aren't getting a sniff at seniors level.
With a finals series in the offing, you'd tink they would be busting a gut to try to make it into the side but a couple are taking some short cuts by the look.

Sandy got absolutely smashed in the centre after half time. Stanley, Armo, Dempster and Steven seemed to be the ones in there getting destroyed most of the time, which isn't a great sign. The forward structure dissolved which didn't give the backs a lot of places to move the ball. They tried running it out but couldn't execute a decent chain of handballs. Whenever they tried to move it longer, they ended up kicking to odd-numbered contests. It wasn't great to watch.
Yeah nah pleasing positive

Forget about Gwilty and Goose for a while I reckon, they were ordinary hacks like the whole team.

Lynch the only positive out of the game for mine. Love to fast forward his progress two years and have him in the side tommorrow. I'm keen to see him get 2-3 games before the finals too see if he can have an impact, he's pretty close
Heyne has a bit of talent, but is still too young and inconsistant.
Maguire has shown he is a long way off the mark from his 05 form. The media beat up is getting a bit much. He still makes plenty of mistakes down there...although Raph Clarke still gets a game..
Gwilt was horrid. He might end up being another Troy Schwarze...almost good enough. He's got a good kick...almost has clean hands. He's a perennial almost
Armo was ok without knocking the door down. He could slot into the firsts no problem.
Miles might be alright for us as a rebounding back. If we were rebuilding he'd be in the side for sure. Looks to have a good kick on him, which is a plus
Stanley wasn't great today. Not exactly the best conditions for an 18yr old bean pole though
Steven looked lively a couple of times, but didn't do much. Nowhere near enough for a senior call up
Dempster looked ok. He's not far off the mark if he needs to be called up.
Hardly sited Begley...may need to get off the syrup.....

I agree with your post Jonesy - but on today's performance, Lynch aside, none of them showed much. Dempster was good in the 2nd quarter when they were having a run at it. Goose just looks out of form, and if you can't find form after 14 rounds, well maybe that is his form....
Armo did some nice things, as did Heyne, Gwilt drifted in and out of the game w/o having much impact. All in all it was very disapponting though. I guess you have those weeks, but some of these blokes would be wanting to be pushing up like armo and Gwilt and Dempster.

Goose was ordinary today. Still a beautiful kick though, he hit most Port players on the chest lace out.
Armo I thought tried hard without support and seemed to end up running himself into trouble alot.
Steven started well but then faded and only popped up now and again. I expect him to be a very good player for us and believe he'll cement his place in our 22 next season.
Lynch was our most promising, hard at it, good tackler and runs to the right spots. Would benefit from a couple of games in the AFL where the service and delivery would suit his style alot better provided the pace isn't too hot for him.
First real look at Miles, quite impressed and can see why he's knocking on the door. Good runner, also hard at it and the best kick of all the running players out there today.
Not Stanley's best game but still alot to like. A good kick and very quick for a big man. Still alot to learn and heaps of development in him. Will be very special in a few years with more bulk and more experience.
Heyne I thought played well. Showed he may offer us something in a year or two if given the opportunity. Typical HFF though and drifted out of game for long periods. Not really his fault though as Sandy's style and effort today was woeful.
Smith seemed OK in patches which surprised me because I really don't expect too much from him.
Dempster tried hard, still a little rusty and probably a few games off the seniors but I believe he will be in our 22 come finals time.
Gwilt was not good today which would have concerned the coaches as you would be expectig him to be one to be keeping the pressure on the incumbents.
