I want to stand for something. I'm a loyal person and I think at the end of my career it will be great to look back and know that I'm a St Kilda person for life.

sorry!! It was the usual run of the mill interview that both Bummer and our Rossy have been trotting out this week. Say nuthin much, just the usual it another game, all about our effort, ooking forward to the challenge of playing the best and will most definately learn something about ourselves this week.

He said footy is all about winning and we are doing that pretty well at the present!! Happy with our progress so far, believes we have made giant strides since last season. But this week the pressure will come on and he is looking forward to seeing where we are at. Pretty much it.

True...except for the bit when RL was questioned on why he did not bring in Goose for Max with the line being that the whole football worls thought Goose should come in..

..and Lyon replied that was why he was the Coach and the asker was a sports journalist. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

though Lyon then on to give the more ploitically correct answer about Maguire being respected, recoveing from injury, earning a spot etc etc..

The part I found unusual was when he said we will win this week for sure and definitely win the flag this year and probably next as well.

I didn't find that unusual at all. The man has always been a realist.

What caught my ear was when he said the rivalry between St Kilda and Geelong is actually understated - and that our players despise the Geelong fairies and would like nothing more than to grind them into the dirt.

He actually said they were looking at the St, George dominance of the early 60's in rugby League. He thought they won 11 in a row and had to change the rules. He was thinking a new rule change that may come in next year is that we must win by over 60 points otherwise it is a loss.

He went on to say that the competition definitely needed to fairer and more equal....

To achieve this, his innovative new proposal to the AFL is only awaiting the St.Kilda boards stamp of approval before going to AD and AA.

...I believe the season should be run like a handicap horse race or the stall gift....to enable a fair photo finish for the final 4 and 8

Melbourne start +28 points
......
....
Geelong -4 points

Saints -16 points

Oh.....Carlton and Collingwood to start after the finish line...

It was said in humour - even if deep down he meant it.

I liked his comment about how he thought St Kilda could become the new Celtic of AFL and that Geelong could become Rangers.

Nice.
