verdun's sale
Verdun has agreed for St Kilda to take the brownlow medal - heard from reliable source.
Footy show was not meant to mention it as Verdun + his wife wanted St Kilda to announce it - but !!
Verdun has not hit hard times apparently - and was only worried about missing out on golf regarding operations - but being a man of his times the security of his wife is more important than anything I suppose.
all the best to him - and glad St Kilda saw sense.

I think that the vast majority of 'punters' at Leski's auctions actually watch it over the net.GrumpyOne wrote:And take the chance of 100 less punters going to their auction..... It may well be that no sale has actually been concluded as yet?

I Support the Club buying
Whilst it may be a chance to off set the cost.......
I hope the clubs purchase was not driven by this offer to club members/supporters
"We had so many people tell us we had to buy the medal, and we will now look at doing something else that people have suggested - give our members a chance to make a contribution, whether it be $1 or $1000, or whatever, as part of a fundraising initiative that will allow them to feel part of it," Nettlefold said.

it would be nice if a club sponsor/ supporter /benefactor would donate funds to ensure that the Heritage museum that has holds of Millions of $ worth of memorabilia could be built and well supporterd into the future so things like this can continue to be picked up if need be by the club.

I like that the club has it.
I'd rather we spent the money on a few other things, but in saying that, the club should always treasure its history and look after past players.
So it's probably a good thing...?
Ideal situation: private buyer purchases it and chooses to display at the club.

Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.

Wed, 24/06/2009 - 13:32 — podmaster St Kilda CEO Michael Nettlefold speaking to KB about the club buying Verdun Howell's Brownlow Medal, has been alot of interest in the medal, the feeling around the club after the great start and trying to keep a lid on things.

i would love to buy it and sell to the club for a profit
however, i wouldnt want to pay $50,000 to turn around and sell it to the saints for $200,000 and cost the club $150,000 when they have a chance to buy it today
Good news by the club
Harvey can sell one of his and make a bit of cash as Carlton probably cant afford to pay him as Judd and Fev are after too much money
