Ling - How many weeks?
Not sure if this should be in the Opposition Forum or not, but given that if he gets 2 weeks he will miss the game against us I've posted it in teh Saints forum for the moment.
Who saw the incident in the third quarter and what will the MRP give him?
Certainly was intentional conduct.
A short sharp punch to the lower stomach.
Hard enough to send the Freo player to the ground where he stayed for some length of time.
I think he may have some carryover points from a report last year as well?

lol stephen powellSainternist wrote:hopefully he gets rubbed out for more than one game. this would create a great opportunity for parents to be able to take their kids to the round 14 game.
Hopefully the current "MA" rating for the game will now be lifted to a "G"

we too. we need to be able to take all comers and this guy is a thorn in the side of everyone who wants to beat geelong.clarky449 wrote:I hope he plays against us
hopefully we get the chance to try a few things on him in round 14 so we can have a Plan A in mind for september.
not sure who or what is the right answer for him, but he is public enemy no 1 as far as i'm concerned.
for a midfielder he is a monster, so maybe put someone on him who is bigger than him.

Clean record - 2009 so far, 2008, 2007, 2006
2005 unsure but only missed one game
Clean 2004
So he probably gets a discount of 25% for having a 5 year clean record and then a discount of 25% on the remainder for an early guilty plea.
Effectively a 43.75% discount.
Thats means to be suspended for 2 weeks he would need to collect 356 points or more.
A level 2 striking charge only gets 125 points, discounted by 25% for good record and a further reduction of 25% for an early plea = 70.31 points = 0 weeks ( Intentional, Low Impact, body contact is level 2).
A level 3 striking chage only gets 225 points, after discounts = 126.56 points = 1 week (Intentional, Medium Impact, Body Contact is level 3)
A level 4 striking charge only gets 325 points after discounts = 182.81 points = 1 week (Intentional, High Impact, Body Contact is level 4)
A level 5 striking charge gets 425 points after discounts = 239.06points = 2weeks.
For a level 5 intentional striking to the body it would have to be Intentional, Severe Impact, Body Contact.
Severe Impact would require the opponent to unable to continue to play.
St Kilda's best outcome would be for him to be charged and accept a level 2 = 0 weeks but 70.31 carry over.
That's Striking, Intentional, Low Impact, Body Contact
This outcome would mean he plays round 13 so he does not freshen up for round 14 and he has the same chance as any player of injury or report in round 13.
He would then have 70.31 carryover points
Because he would not suspended he would not get a bad record, but he would lose his 5 year good record discount for being found guilty..

Does anyone not remember the tummy tap that cost Fraser Gehrig 2 weeks?thirty-seven!? wrote:He'll play...
He did hit the guy, but it was just in the guts and not too powerful...
He may cop one week, but would be REALLY surprised if it's anything more!
The Cats were looking very tired tho after two weeks in a row at subiaco!
That said, I want him to play against us. I don't them to use any excuses when we beat them in Rnd 14.

Let's face it, Demetriou is vertically challenged.
He can't distinguish between blue and white vertical stripes and blue and white horizontal hoops.
Demetriou played for North Melbourne so it follows that he also likes Geelong.
Therefore Ling will walk free.

Looked corrupt, tasted corrupt, smelt corrupt, felt corrupt.saint75 wrote: Does anyone not remember the tummy tap that cost Fraser Gehrig 2 weeks?
It WAS corrupt.
AFL an abbreviation for corruption.
Intentional, low impact, body contact = level 2 striking 125 points discount of 25% for early plea = 93.75 points
Not sure about Gehrig's previous record but had the system been in place at time he would have started with no bad record = 0 weeks.
But let's make it bad to the max.
Add 50% loading for 5+ matches suspended in 3 previous years = 140.63 points = 1 match only.
OR
Intentional, insignificant impact, body contact = no offence = 0 points = 0 weeks.
The more you know, the more you know you don't know.

Does anyone remember Luke Ball jabbing his opposite number just before the bounce-up a few weeks back? It was hard enough to drop him to the ground.
I can't even remember who they were playing. It was worth a free kick - nothing more. There's probably not much between that incident and this one, except that Ling's was during play.

How would you rate the 'love tap' in relation to others?plugger66 wrote:Hope he gets something or half the people on here will go for AFL corruption, conspiracy theories or cheating. None of which is true but logic doesnt worry some people. Or the old chestnut, the AFL hate the Saints.Red wrote:It was a love tap. Won't have anything to answer.
Personally I think that it was a little harder than the one Gehrig gave Cloke but not quite as hard as the one Hall gave Goose.
What perplexes me is that Gehrig got 2 weeks for his 'love tap' and Hall got none?
Hence the reason for my original question - how many for Ling?
I know the issue might be clouded because Suban is a 'giant wuss' like Goose for going down after being hit with the 'love tap'.
Afterall, nobody playing AFL should be hurt/inconveniencd by a 'love tap' to the body, should they?

Seems reasonably forceful contact was made. One week perhaps? Is he carrying any points on his record ATM? Don't forget his frightful appearance should add to the degree of the charge. Did you notice he turned bright pink as he became enraged? Is the guy an octopus? They have the ability to change all sorts of weird colors when under threat!
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!
