Sponsors Raffle- McQualter-Tigers Game

Post: # 761125Post saintsRrising »

GENERAL

Ok a number of forumites have taken out an extra Sponsor Shares for McQualter to become the FIFTH players sponsored by this forum.

Well done to all :D

So if you are one of the forumites who took out one of these extra shares you have been assigned a raffle ticket per extra share.

Please note that if you were a sponsor of the first 4 players BUT did not pay for an extra share that you are not eligible for this draw.

McQUALTER PLAYER SPONSOR DRAW

The prizes:

There are be 4 prizes available to be 'raffled off':-

1/ 1 x Framed memorabilia

2/ 2 x Tickets to Match Day Experience (Crows Game)

3/ 2 x Tickets to B&F

4/ Either of the following 2 options:-

3 x tickets to Match Day Experience (Crows Game) OR 1 x ticket to B&F (ie you pick one of these two options

Your raffle ticket:
Each share = one ticket
Each ticket has been randomized and then assigned two numbers.
To make it impartial:
First number applies if St Kilda scores the first goal of the St Kilda Tigers game.
Second number applies if Richmond scores the first goal.

Who wins:

Prize 1/ Number of jumper of the player from this game that kicks the first goal (can be a player from either team).

Prize 2/ St Kilda score at quarter time
Prize 3/ St Kilda score at half time
Prize 4/ St Kilda score at three quarter time

If StKilda scores more than 100 points by either half or three quarter time, the winning ticket will determined by that score -100 (or 200 if necessary  ) points.

Note that a ticket can only be drawn once. So if any number appears more than once that that prize will go to the number of the player that kicks the last goal of the game (then derermined by Richmond's score in order half time score, then quarter time score, three quarter time score, final score ))

Winners to contact MrMagic by PM for details of their prize.

Good luck

Note that the order of the tickets was obtained by assigning each ticket a randomised group of letters and then sorting alphabetically.

****This means that one draw has already occurred....ie a raffle has decided which ticket number you were given.

Having the team which kicks the first goal in the St Kilda Richmond game further randomises the ticket number selection.

Using the teams to effectively "draw" the wining numbers adds I hope an element of football oriented fun while also making the draw impartial.

Go Kosi to kick the first and Saints to be 123 at half time

Hang on, so anyone with a number higher than 50ish can't win first prize?

Maybe we should just meet at Crown after the game and borrow a roulette wheel?

I thought that too, but then I read the OP again and it made sense.

You get two numbers per share. e.g.

saint3d . .***.. 18 . .***.. 83

If the Saints kick the first goal, the number on the left is the one that counts. If the Tigers kick the first goal, the number on the right is the one that counts.

So for the example above, if BJ kicks the first goal, I win prize 1. But if Milne kicks the first goal, and the Saints have a score of 18 at quarter time, I win prize 2. If, however, a Richmond player kicks the first goal, I want the Saints to have a score of 83 at half or three quarter time in order to win prize 3 or 4.

Yes, it means some people have no chance of winning prize 1 because their number isn't on a players back.

I've got no problems with how the drawer is done but wouldn't it be fairer to allocate these numbers, puchase a raffle book & somebody draw the numbers at Livewire prior to the game? I'll pass on the money to anyone who is going to the game against Hawthorn down here to cover the cost.

Why would it be fairer?

Ticket numbers in the process outlined in the OP are all randomly drawn and the process as defined of the "winners" being drawn is impossibe to rig. Even the final selection of the Ticket numbers is determined by the teams on the day and thus is independent.

Whereas three or six people may meet at Livewire....and it would be possible for those gathered to rig would it not? Not stating they would...but your question was asking if such a process would be fairer.

Where is the fun in that though?

This way everyone in the draw knows if they have won at the moment it happens whether they are at the game, listening on radio...or if they are watching live & direct.

I can imagine many watching the score anxiously if their number is the right one at the 30 odd minute mark hoping that no more points are scored...or conversely if you are six points short barracking for one more goal.

Plus...non- Mini sponsors may also choose to "watch" for an element of fun.

There is no need to explain yourself IMO...

Your system is unbiased and gives all sponsors something to look at, in our nest match...

So fonz_#15 who has 1 share, has numbers 6 & 94 has a chance of winning prize 1?
Is Leigh Fisher likely to play?
I thought the other raffle drawer was fairer to all.

I, like all here appreciate all the work you have done but giving everyone a chance to win would be fairer.

Well foz-#15 now has an extra reason to hope that L fisher will be selected.

Bakes could go down at training.and L Fisher could come in.

Also do not forget that a Rickmond player may kick the first goal.

No 6

You have failed to understand that there has already been a drawer..to randomly assisgn Ticket Numbers. I could have equally used a raffle ticket book....but instead I used random letter generation which was then alaphabetically sorted.

So fonz-#15 had an equal chance of getting 1, 6 , or 33 or 99 or of any the 100 tickets with that 1 share.

So process is entirely fair.

I had the equal chance of getting foz#15's numbers. You had the same chance Each of the 100 shares had the same chance.

All that is happening after the first stage is another layer with the actual prizes be awarded by that layer.

Think of it like a Melboure Cup Sweep. All have an equal chance of a number.

How valuable that drawn number is is determined by the horses on the day...or in this case the football teams.

You might get a favourite. You might get a horse that gets scratched and does not run.

In this case if your numbers are not that of a St Kilda or a Richmond player you have already lost that part of the raffle.

However all raffles have winners and losers and that is their nature.
