Lucky I found some good info from hutchy finally.

Great for the club to buy his brownlow back. Gotta just give big thumbs up for the club/board reacquiring heritage like that....

Is the gentleman still alive??? Again great initiative by the club!!!

Great news - well done to the board.

Any idea how much we paid ?

Verdun is still alive in Western Australia.
A job well done by our club's board.
Thanks for the news, I went outside to get some wood in when Hutchy was on as I normally do & missed the announcement.

Was a bit miffed that Verdun was selling his Brownlow, but had the reasons explained to me in a pm, and understood the need.

Excellant effort by all concerned to bring this off. After all, Verdun was one off the players who took cents in the dollar owed so that we still have a club to support.

Has Verdun fallen on hard times?

Did Hutchy actually state that the sale has taken place?

Probably because he very rarely has a good news story. He's usually delving through rubbish bins & trawling up cr@p on people. Or just making it up.

Just because he reports a good story doesn't make him a decent bloke.

If he said that the deal has been done, then I reckon Hutchy is a bit like Carlscum's slogan on this story - premature.

Didn't say he was a decent bloke.
Just interesting if he had of stated something negative the thread would be full of "BS. The bald germ is lying again" ,"scum of the earth liar" ,etc etc

A word of caution..... the W E Green company is still producing reprints of the Grand Final Winners Posters.

If you intend bidding, make sure you are getting a 1966 issue one, not a later reprint.

Not 100% sure as I can't find my copy of "The Point of it All" to confirm. Perhaps someone could look it up for us?

Just checked here and it only says he coached Richmond's twos.

Im sure the Point of it All would be a touch more accurate but it doesn't appear he coached us at any level.

Hence my post earlier about Hutchy being premature.

If there is a deal I hope he hasn't stuffed it up in some way by announcing it too early?

What? Almost speechless!

It makes no mention of it, as only a half a dozen of the major creditors are mentioned from the players and coaches who were owed $470,797. So it could be, perhaps from a provident fund. It would not have been much by 1984.

I think he was the last fullback to win the Brownlow. Reason he won? He took heaps of contested marks and was a beautiful kick.
