Reading Carlton forum

Post: # 759185Post maz1685 »

I just decided to read the Carlton forum cos I've never checked out another team's forum, and it occured to me, no matter what team u support, we always think we're hard done by. They were complaining that they couldn't buy a free kick, and St Kilda can do what they want cos umpires all stick up for Riewoldt. Isn't the exact same thing that is said here in regards to players like Judd. I just found that interesting, dunno why, it's just funny how we all see the games in a completely different view, maybe we're all one eyed supporters. But i read the stats, and if I read correctly, Carlton got more frees than us, and they also think that we had to play our top game to beat them, but we only put in real effort for small bursts, and still beat them.

And i bet the fact that none of them noted the free kick count was in their favour. 15-13

It's called watching a game through one eye. 90% of supporters do it during a game only the sensible ones realise when they watch a replay how one eyed they were during that game.

I just spoke to the AFL umpiring department.
I was told Carlton can still buy as many free kicks as they like.
Just as they have done in the past.

The problem is that Carlton's finances aren't in such good shape as they were in the past.
Also the price of free kicks has gone up due to the global economic crisis.

If the Pratt's son wants to part with a few million the umpires can still guarantee Carlton a top four finish and the flag at the end of the grand final.

The problem on Friday night with the umpiring is they were not paying enough free kicks period.

What's the fascination with Carlton?
They've been beaten and so they're suporters are sour. Do you expect them to heap praise on the Saints?
I think they're acting like any other supporter. I don't think it's healthy trolling their forum. It'd be better if you went to a porn site.

Yeah and the people on porn sites have more honesty and integrity than Carlton.

Much as I loathe the scum, we've dealt with them so lets move on....

It's for them to agonize over what could've should've would've been, we've got bigger fish to fry.

Visit all the sites and I think you will find that Carlton seems to have the dumbest supporters and that's taking into account Collingwood supporters.

A strange phenomenon yet clearly true.

How smart do you have to be to be on here?

Always good to know the enemy... sometimes you can pick up important information that may leak about their team. Not smart? ok.

I went out with a girl who was a very keen Tigers supporter so for a couple of years went to Saints & Richmond matches most weeks.

It's interesting that you realise what a good job the umpires do when you don't really care who wins.

Very true... it's totally comical when you have no investment in the game.

Spot on Firey.

They have a large percentage of fans that are are not so much one eyed but just don't understand the game.

Collingwood are just feral. Carlton supporters are very dumb & fit their stereotype very snugly.

The thing I noticed with Carlton fans on Friday night was their inability to actually barrack for their team.
They seemed to be continiously booing & jeering our players and umpires, Crying for free kicks that simply weren't there & abusing St kilda players whenever they came close to the fence...Every thing BUT barracking for Carlton.
I can't see anything wrong with browsing their forum ( trolling's a different matter) or any other teams for that matter. In fact it's quite interesting & amusing.

Thought the same thing, they boo just about anything.
Some of the decisions they booed were so obviously correct and when replayed made them look like morons...but did it stop them booing the next and the next? Total monobrowed morons.

I wasn't trolling the forum, I've just read on here so many times that people say 'I was over at the Carlton forum and they said this and this' so I was just curious to see exactly what they said, usually don't go over but there seemed to be abig fascination with Carlton. Obviously I know that if i go to another forum, they will be supporting their team, however, I just found it interesting that some of the stuff they said is almost exactly the same as the stuff said here with different names/teams inserted. I personally think the umpiring has been great over the past few weeks, I've seen so many soft free kicks let go (to both teams) and it just makes the game that much better.

I heard on the grapevine, that a paperbag was involved and a large quantity of AFL Umpire footycards was to trade hands as part of the transaction - a win win

speaking of corruption....
not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but did anyone else notice the Carlton interchange official after the infringement?
He looked like he was about to pee his pants he was so excited, slapping the back of the umpire, and the grin...
The cheques' in the mail, Mr Emergency Ump

I didn't notice the Carlton guy's face - though I noticed the pat on the back - what I noticed was how sheepish and upset the interchange umpire looked.

My inference (through the split second of television footage, so it must be accurate :) ) was that he hated having to make the call, knew with the timing his head was going to be on TV and attracting the stares of hatred of half the viewing public... but he had to as it was his job.

I still cannot fathom how at a time like that a player enters the ground in the wrong place. Less than a minute on the clock, backliners icing it - the only thing to do is not come on in the wrong place...

I liked the umpiring. Let it go I say. Dont HAVE to pay all the incidental technical almost/just/sort of there "free's".
