Geelong game live on Melbourne TV
The game will now start at 3.10pm (according to afl.com and The Age, although the Herald Sun is quoting 3.20pm), to enable a live telecast into Melbourne.

The AFL is dumber than I thought if they think any supporters will actually believe this.saint3d wrote:AFL chief operating officer Gillon McLachlan said the AFL was delighted Channel Seven would go live with the match.
"It's a terrific example of the AFL and our broadcast partner working together to put our fans first," McLachlan said.
The AFL will peddle out the line "the supporters are the winners" all the time, but the simple truth is the game is being held at a stadium that is half the size of the alternative, and the match is being being delayed to suit the Channel 7 news. The average supporter is anything but the winner.
Pathetic.

I am absolutely livid about this whole thing.St Chris wrote:The AFL is dumber than I thought if they think any supporters will actually believe this.saint3d wrote:AFL chief operating officer Gillon McLachlan said the AFL was delighted Channel Seven would go live with the match.

Tough break mate...you'll get over itQuixote wrote:I missed out on L1 tickets - refused to take the s*** seats the AFL then offered in the peaks of L3.
This arrangement suits me fine!! BBQ lunch, a few beers at bottle shop prices and then the game of the year LIVE on a 60 inch flat-screen!!
Damn. I'm really shitty.
Sounds great but I'm still glad we have good tickets...can't freaking wait

This now appears on the HUN site:
'The match's start time will be pushed back to 3.10pm AEST to accommodate Channel Seven's schedule.
Correction to time - the AFL initially gave us the wrong time of 3.20pm. Apologies for any confusion."
So they went from 2.10pm to 3.20pm and then to 3.10pm
Sound like a story written by Slobbo!

Mr McLachlan said the AFL was delighted Channel Seven would go live with the match to enable the 6pm news and the rest of their nights programming to be shown to the widest audience possible.
Edited for accuracyChannel Seven Melbourne General Manager Lewis Martin said: “It’s been a great collaboration between Seven and the AFL to ensure our viewers get to see this top-of-the-table clash live on Channel Seven. We thank the AFL for being flexible with the schedule and allowing a live broadcast of a match that will be sold out...just dont expect to see any post-match celebrations people...its gonna be final siren and into the News..cant have you even thinking about flicking over to 9 can we?
Whats that? We have 45 minutes of interminable boring post-match rubbish after the Friday night game? Of course..we want you tuned in for as long as we can on Fridays, we'd go til midnight if we could..gotta keep those ratings boxes ticking over!
