Now Folks !!

We shouldn't be at each other's throats over what our opposition did and why they did it. If the truth be known it was probably a bit of injury management & a bit of an attempt by Laidley at positive spinning.

They had Power & Wright gone for the day by 1/2 time. They were trying to manage Wells & Thomas who both went into the game under-done. They also had Simpson with a calf and one or two other injured players during the last Q. What would we have done in a similar situation, considering the game was done & dusted by the 17 minute mark when this occured?

We probably need to seperate their injury crisis and Laidley's comments !!

Whatever happened to the so-called Shinboner spirit? No mention of it for ages and Laidley now just carrying on like a little sook. He should have a read of this from St Kilda's official website:
For the love of the jumper Number 3 - Stuart King played in 1933 a famous year for the Saints. In Round 5 in a game against North Melbourne the Saints took a fearful battering. Only 16 men could take the field after half time and the side finished the game with only 15 men.
The Saints hung on to win by 14 points. After the game officials struck a badge for each player. Folklore had it that this badge was the origin of the crest all players now wear proudly on their jumpers, but evidence of later years suggests the crest was on the jumpers at the beginning of 1933.
Substitute the Kanga's coach!!

I have a good idea for next Friday.

For the benefit of the safety of the Carlton players, lets not chase hard, tackle so hard or move the ball so quickly in case the weaker opposition hurt themselves or do any soft tissues.

Cripes. Bottom line - the Saints were harder, fitter, faster.

But Laidley is their injury and their crisis.

Good post, simple straight to the point and accurate.

Care factor zero.
As noted, injuries have cruelled us over the years and its our turn for a good run.
When Carey and Archer were thumping us over the years what sympathy did we get, frig all.
You are a hopeless case as a coach Dean "Lady" and will be lucky to be coaching Bendigo Bombers next year - "laters".

Cant beleive all the snipes at Dean Laidely, think he is a good coach who has done very well with a middle of the road list. On Saturday I thought some of his match ups were very good and he had his team up and about early, the plan was obviously to get a jump and try and hold us off but it didnt work for them, they had a crack though.

Would have thought that he will be coaching senior footy next year and personally I would say the risk for NM is to great in letting him go, What if they go massively backwards right on the edge of the two new teams entering the comp? It could be disaster on and off the field. They should stick with him, he is a professional, not greedy or money hungry and probably works in average conditions when you look at training facility etc.

A lot of respect for Laidely.

yep live by the sword, die by it !

For Sale one bottle of Shinboner Spirit
Take a few swigs but be quick it runs dry after the first quarter!

Their Assistant Cockroach couldn't contain himself on Fox at Q-time expounding how they are out to rough us up and put us off our game! LOL!

He must have missed Laidley telling the boys they'd better cool it because the umps had finally woke up to it all with 3 mins to go and pinged the smartarsed Rawlings for merely trying to hold Dals hand, just seconds after issuing him a direct warning on the blatant rough -house tactics

Good call...the irony of it that they came out and tried to rough us up, and ended up with one in hospital, one concussed and 17 fit players by the end of the game.

And for all the old women in the media (Robbo, Ox, Walls), King may have over done it, but North had being trying that sort of rubbish all day, roughing up our younger guys.

Good on ya Kingy, while he may have a rest for it, it sends a message that you can try and rough us up if you like, but you'd wanta do it properly, because if you don't you'll get hurt in more ways than one.

We've been missing a hard edge for years, difference is now that we can also hurt sides on the scoreboard.

I can't remember the last soft premeirship side...maybe thats because there are none.
way to go mate.....
