Yeah it was mentioned in the AGM report that one of the fitness staff (Misson???) said that Rhys Stanley was the best athlete that they had seen in 10 yearsLegendary wrote:David Misson said thatSuperSaint wrote:Spinner wrote:I'm pretty sure Beveridge was referring to Brad Howard. If he keeps growing and retains his athletism we could indeed have an absolute gun on our hands

Now excuse my ignorance....but more specifically 'best athlete' - what does that actually mean, its a fairly board statement.

Best you ask the fitness staffer who made the comment if you are looking for a definitive answer

Stanley is incredible. Covers the ground like Ryder but as raw as can be. Picture the polar opposite of McEvoy. They should make a great combo for 10 years. On McEvoy, I saw him pull up lame just before 3/4 time. Did he come back on in the last quarter? I am interested because I heard Lyon say King and Gardiner are both sore and struggling to get up for the weekend (Gardiner will be suspended regardless). If McEvoy is now injured will be very interesting to see how they go. On the game, Bendigo were a 3rds team and basically all our players looked great. Steven back to his best, Lynch really coming along nicely, Dempster looked as fit as a fiddle and MAx won every contest he was in. Was joking with all the Saints players on the sidelines before half time he was so bored!

St Kilda should have enough players available to put together a "seconds" team.Eastern wrote:And now because of the VFL Fixture, Sandi seniors don't play for 3 weeks !!
Sandringham would have enough senior and seconds players to make a team.
Seems like a practice match could be played between St Kilda seconds versus Sandringham's list.

Fully expected have both sides win easily, BB are far and away the worst side in the VFL this season...so not sure what we can take from the games..apart from another match into the legs of Max/Goose.
Willy beat them by a combined margin of 300-odd points
Choo Choo must be close to a try with the Sandy seniors?

big mac limping
Saw the game yesterday and Eddy on crutches at the end and big mac limping. Both hurt their ankles by the looks with Eddy worse off than mac. Agree that Stanley is a gun...kicked a great goal and his leap at the centre bounces v impressive. And a great combo with mac. Thought armo, begley, heyne all played well with real enthusiasm and effort. I'd love to see Stanley have a go in the AFL but he is a bit of a stick figure. Lucas a sad sight for bendigo...

Zebras Back in Town
Sandringham continued Bendigo’s miserable run so far this season with a 112-point thrashing at Trevor Barker Beach Oval on Sunday.
The Zebras were dominant across the ground from the outset, finishing 20.16.(136) to 3.6.(24) winners.
Full-forward Nicholas Sautner continued his great start to the season with eight goals, taking his tally to 39.
Returning Essendon trio Brent Prismall, Andrew Welsh and Kyle Reimers got through unscathed, with Prismall the most impressive.
Sandringham kicked three goals in the opening 10 minutes of the game and they led by 27 points at quarter-time, with the Bombers scoreless.
It was much of the same in the second quarter with Bendigo managing a meagre behind to trail by 65 points at the main break.
The Bombers finally kicked a goal through Simon Weekley and broke Sandringham’s run of 10 in a row, three minutes into the third quarter.
The final term was highlighted by a brilliant snap from Sandringham’s Jack Steven.
The midfielder marked deep in the pocket and snapped truly, wrapping up best-on-ground honours.
Bomber Scott Lucas struggled against Max Hudghton and Matthew Maguire throughout, kicking just the solitary behind.
Reimers and Welsh may need a couple of more weeks with Bendigo as they work their way into match fitness.
But the performance of Prismall, Bendigo’s best, will have the Essendon faithful discussing his possible selection this week.
The Zebras will be pleased with the manner of their team performance, including 11 different goal kickers.
Steven was best, but David Gallagher and captain Peter Summers worked hard and were effective for the winners.
Prismall won most of the ball for the Bombers, and Thomas German and Welsh worked hard in what was a disappointing all-round performance.
