Good result I agree and can consider himself lucky.
Hope that he learns to be more careful. Will be missed against the tall Kangas.
Freshen up and back for the blues

Take that... good opportunity to give bigmac his second run for the year, against legit quality opposition in HamishMac...
Dont expect BigMac to match Hamish, but if he can hold his own, it'd be a great learning curve for him..
Whilst he's having a great season and I love the bloke, I recon Gards has been reckless a few time this year.... Hopefully this one week holiday gets him to keep his elbows tucked in, and fists toward the ball..

Well, it looks like a win for Big Mac BUT...
- Could Blake be re-shuffled into 2nd ruck to allow Milne back in?
- Could Blake be re-shuffled into 2nd ruck to allow Max back in?
- If Maguire does come in, what does that mean for Milne and Max?
Not a foregone conclusion. Don't forget Maguire either.

mcevoy reportedly was hobbling a bit after sunday for sandringham.
reportedly ross said king was a bit sore after saturday night.
stanley was close to BOG for sandringham.
gilbert might have tweaked his knee.
milne you would expect to walk back in.
raph had a first half he'd prefer to forget.
two previous first 18 players in max and goose await their chance.
it's going to be an interesting night at selection.

I suspect what the coaches have learned about using Blake and Kosi as rucks is that they don't get the best out of them in either the ruck or their usual role.
If Blake is holding Goose back, better to bring in a dedicated ruck (Macca) and drop Blake for Goose. Don't see it happening though.
I have a feeling the only time we'll be seeing Max, Goose and Demps is if we get hit by injury.

this is my bet. we know how they like to make minimum changes. both kosi and blake can share a bit of time in there, though i'd rather see kosi play the whole game forward.evertonfc wrote:Well, it looks like a win for Big Mac BUT...

getting thumped in the hitouts isn't such a worry anyway. saturday night the hitouts were 44 to 22 against us, but we still won clearances 35 to 21. and the game.

It sure would be a surprise to see Stanley selected. But my money's on King and Macca recovering in time for Saturday.bigcarl wrote:mcevoy reportedly was hobbling a bit after sunday for sandringham.

The fact that Gilbert went back on the field in the last quarter suggests he's not in trouble.
All other things being equal, I'm tipping Raph will come out for Milne and Macca will sub for Gards.

Michael Gardiner, St Kilda, has been charged with a Level Three striking offence against Mark Jamar, Melbourne, during the second quarter of the Round 10 match between St Kilda and Melbourne, played at Gold Coast Stadium on Saturday May 30, 2009.Mr Magic wrote:How was it assessed?
In summary, he can accept a one-match sanction with an early plea.
The incident was assessed as intentional conduct (three points), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points). This is a total of six activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level Three offence, drawing 225 demerit points and a two-match sanction. He has no existing good or bad record. An early plea reduces the sanction by 25 per cent to 168.75 points and a one-match sanction.

Yep, Stephen Milne was in career best form before he was injured and Jason Gram was not (apparently amongst other things), with no great improvement last Saturday. But we will have to see how a few of the others come up. It just might be the week for a significant number of changes forced on the club for the first time this year.bergholt wrote:...but surely milne has to come back in? maybe gram back out, i guess.

I only saw it live on tv at the time, so I can't really pass a comment on it.
Did it look 'intentional' or could he argue reckless?
Whast is the definition of 'intentional' vs 'reckless' in the context of teh Tribunal?
Also, why does he not have an existing good/bad record?
Surely all players who have been 'registered for 3/4 years must have a 'record' in Tribunal terms?

I just "copied & Paste" straight off the AFL website!bigmicka wrote:How can you not have a good or bad record?
What does he have an indifferent record?
I see macca alot like Barry Brooks, but with some skill.
He wants to be a forward and not a ruck, sound familiar.

What would be the effect of pleading guitly to RECKLESS conduct, low impact, high contact.
Although the conduct was intentional, his head high contact was not.
He was clearly trying to get his body and arm in the way of Jamar in a clumsy shepherding attempt.
I seem to remember a West Coast player pleading guilty to a different charge which was accepted by the tribunal and he got a lesser sentence.
Also Barry Hall pleaded guilty to a different charge, after punching Maguire in the stomach, which was accepted and he got to play in Grand Final as a result.

Extremely lucky. Was an incredibly stupid thing to do. Probably the best week for him to have a week off imo.
Now i want Ross to bring in Goose. Deserves his chance. Swap Kosi and Blake through as the second ruckman, and while doing so either have Goose up at full forward or in the back half when Petrie and Hale slide down there. If Gilbert doesn't get up as well then Mac should get a go too and keep Matty down back.

The charge was clearly upgraded from reckless, which it was, to intentional, which it was not, by a corrupt AFL, trying to help Demetriou's former team North Melbourne.
