The Saints are coming!
Re: Dempster fit and available!!
Dempster was good last year but that knee injury has cost him big time. There's a chance that he may make the team this season because Ross Lyon is big on structure and I could see him coming in if Baker gets injured, but apart from that we won't be seeing him.True Blue Sainter wrote:http://www.saints.com.au/season2009/new ... fault.aspx

If you include Gram who missed last week (not sure about Steven or Fisher) we have cover across the ground. I remember hearing about our list a few years back but it was never as deep as this.CaptainReiwoldt wrote:OUR DEPTH IS NOW...
BACKLINE: Max, Maguire, Dempster
RUCK: McEvoy
FORWARD: Lynch
MIDFIELD: L.Fisher, Armitage, Eddy, Steven
Let us all hope that Sean gets his match fitness up in the twos and is pushing for senior selection after the break.

I would like to add Begley in the back half, and scratch L Fisher...CaptainReiwoldt wrote:OUR DEPTH IS NOW...

L Fisher is far too slow for the AFL and has limited skills with his disposals IMO, But I like the look of Nich HEYNE in the pre season

Dempster is coiming back from an acl...so it most likely will takea while for him to get back to the level he was at.True Blue Sainter wrote:http://www.saints.com.au/season2009/new ... fault.aspx

At least Begley has pace on his side, whereas L Fisher has little and average disposal at best.Stephen Theodore wrote:St Fidelius wrote:

Agree St Fidelius. Being up here in S.E.QLD I've seen a bit of Begley over the last few years. He's a good runner, and a terrific back up if injuries should hit us.
To suggest L Fisher for a midfield role would be suicide IMO...
Players may get away with lack of pace in the midfield but they have to have skill, I really don't think L Fisher is up to that.
He was delisted last year and got a second chance, yes he improved his endurance in the pre season, but he still lacks the pace at AFL level IMO.
For me Begley > L Fisher

CJ has been the best tagger we have in the midfield, are you suggesting that Dempster should play midfield and tag??
Dempster is a backman and a good one, but CJ is our best midfield tagger that gains possessions as well as keeping his opponents to very few.
I would love to know the stats on just how many goal assists CJ has earned so far this season.

Well, take out last weekend's squad - Hayes, Montagna, Dal Santo, Ball, Goddard, Riewoldt, Koschitzke, Milne, Schneider, Jones, McQualter, Gwilt, R. Clarke, Gilbert, Dawson, S. Fisher, Gardiner, King, Ray, Baker, Blake, Geary - and here's what's standing out:
Backs: Hudghton, Maguire, Dempster, L. Fisher
Midfeilders: Gram, Armitage, Eddy, X. Clarke, Begley, Steven, Heyne
Forwards: Lynch
Ruck: McEvoy, Stanley, McGrath
That's incredible.

McGrath is a rookie and has no chance of playing this year..
X is gone this year.
L Fisher will get game time to show what he can do,one would imagine befrore being delisted (just not good enough with skill and pace)

Releases Fish, Gram or even Gilbert up the ground.
If fit, I reckon he'll geta gig before Goose.
its a given really, get the ball in his hands as much as possible as he is a super kick, one of those players our team hopefully tries to, much like goddard, fisher, dal santo
