Our home game
we get the $400,000
North melbourne were contracted to play two games there this season- but after they put their foot down with the AFL the AFL said well don't bother and who would like them
Carlton took one-
and the Saints took the other- and the nAB cup game.

I seem to remember Collingwood putting up their hand for some carrara action but I might be wrong.
Rd 7: Carlton v Fremantle
Rd 10: St Kilda v Melbourne
Rd 14: Richmond v Adelaide
Doesn't look like it will happen next year (Stadium redevelopment). Club will have to find another source to make up the cash.

So North Melbourne are losing $100,000 a game for a 15,000 crowd at Docklands, when they could have had $800,000 for 2 games on the Gold Coast.saintbrat wrote:Our home game

Then they will go crying to the AFL because they lost a cool million by playing all their home games at Docklands.
And former Kangaroo Demetriou will give them a bucket of money to compensate.

We haven't lost a premiership game at Moorabbin or Belvedere in the last decade either.Harvey To Hayes wrote:We're undefeated at Carrara in premiership games this decade...saint patrick wrote:Because the dome is our victorian home where we are bloody hard to beat...fix up the finiancial arragements don't wish to be sent interstate

Not so sure about that, but strange things have happened (AFL giving interest free loans to carlton to repay the fine they were sanctioned with for cheating).ace wrote: Then they will go crying to the AFL because they lost a cool million by playing all their home games at Docklands.

At the time of the decision of North not to re-locate, there seemed to be a lot of disappointment/resentment coming from AFL HQ; bordering on unprofessional. i.e. Cancelling their 2 games, changing their 'shareholder' structure/governance in order to receive their annual afl pension payments.
Then of course the spin began shortly after "we wanted a new team at the GC" after all.
How did others see that whole saga?
Seeing as the OP was answered, hope no one minds if i hijack the thread.

You're NOT wrong. Eddie said that Collingwood would generously play 3 AWAY games at Carrara. Their only other interstate game would be in Sydneybenengel14 wrote:I seem to remember Collingwood putting up their hand for some carrara action but I might be wrong.
The AFL rejected this generous offer I don't know why !!

From what I remember we sold a home game to the Gold Coast in return for reduced interstate fixtures.
In reality the AFL has packed us off to Tassie to play an away game against the Hawks and still had us play in Adelaide twice in the first month of the season, so in the end a worthless excercise IMHO
