This means we are up on last year, 30,122 and could better 2007 at 30,950. The record is 32,327 in 2006 - can't see that number being reached although with a month or more to go, you never know.
Come on guys, let's exceed expectations.

phew!
I think we may better Melbourne's tally.
It should be 35,000 - no excuses, especially after 7 wins on the trot!
Maybe the existing members may decide to join the Social Club for a possible GF
This will also help the club with finances

It would be really interesting to know which forms of membership the CLub sells provide them the best returns.
Obviously they collect all the proceeds from the sale of memberships,
and Social Club Memberships are more expensive so give them more money.
What proportion of the sale of Reserved Seats does the Club get to keep, and does that percentage vary with seat type?
If we knew, the Club might actually benefit from a whole group of 'marketers' here on saintsational who could change their current membership/seat purchases to ones that give more money to the Club.
For instance, does the Club benefit from selling a reserved seat to a member rather than that member buying a reserved seat on matchday?
For those members who go to most home matches, how hard would it be to convert them to reserved seat holders if they knew the Club was benefitting?

But yes, all monies from Social CLub and Football Club memberships go directly to the Club.
As of today 30,600 and climbing (from St Kilda directly early this afternoon). The memberships are pouring in and I was told that it is possible that it may hit 31,000 by the weekend.
If your not already, SIGN UP!!! There is a cheap $55 package that entitles you entry to one game if you find it impossible to make it to the games or if you are struggling for $$$$$$.

unfortunately that membership - whilst putting money in the clubs pockets does NOT count to official figures - must be 5 games or moresaint75 wrote:

Hopefully the announcement today will make a difference. If people aren't persuaded to sign up now with the performance of our team to date, they never will!
Of that figure, one does wonder how many of those are from interstate?
If you look at it that way, it pretty poor IMO

interesting take on membership value from the Ox in last weeks inside fotball
http://insidefootballonline.com/schwarz.htmlMembers looking for more
All clubs are heavily reliant upon memberships as this is their core income from season to season. It’s all well and good to get your 30,000-plus members each year, which means guaranteed income, but if the members don’t turn up to the games the gate receipts will be minimal. Clubs cannot just rely on the 22 players who run out on a weekly basis to be the drawcard. Even if they are playing entertaining football it is not always enough to entice fans in record numbers. With the high price (and poor quality) of stadium food and the current economic climate, it is getting tougher financially for people to go to the football week in, week out. Given there is less pre-game entertainment these days, I just think the clubs expect a lot out of their fans and give little in return. Clubs need to be more creative and understand that fans want to be part of the inner sanctum – or at least be made to feel that they are. Gone are the days when fans were willing to pay $200 for a corporate lunch/dinner before watching the game. Not only is it expensive, but the idea of being lavishly entertained is now frowned upon. Perhaps a simple pre-game cocktail party at $40 a head might be a better way to go.
Look after football family
Clubs must continue to target the families and, in particular, the kids. This is where clubs can give something back. Running more clinics and providing greater access to players is a must. Players who are out injured could have match-day duties such as greeting supporters as they arrive at the ground and signing autographs – a simple way of getting in touch with the fans. This should be happening at every home game. When games are being played against interstate sides that don’t draw big crowds, more tickets should be given to junior clubs. I know the AFL gives away a lot of tickets to youngsters, but the clubs should be more involved. They could target regions and cultivate their fan bases. Probably the most important thing about going to the football is the ability to have a kick with your mates before and after the game. For the life of me I don’t understand why the public is not allowed on to venues once the game is finished, even if it is only for 15 minutes. I was lucky enough to be at Skilled Stadium last weekend to see Geelong take on Sydney. At the end of the match there were about 2000 people eagerly awaiting a chance to run on to the ground when the second went. Having a kick and flying for marks was probably the highlight of the day for many. This should be mandatory. Quite simply, clubs must be proactive rather than reactive and can’t just put their hand out – to the league or the fans – when times are tough.
Tell clubs to go jumper
When is the AFL going to get tough with clubs in relation to clash jumpers? It’s time an edict was issued: When a side is playing an away game it has to have an alternate strip. I know Collingwood puts a lot of money into the pockets of the other 15 clubs and the AFL, but it isn’t bigger than the game itself or the needs of supporters who struggle to tell sides apart on a weekly basis. This situation is ludicrous. Whether you are switching on the TV or sitting at the ground, you should be able to know in an instant who is who (and in any weather). Not only will it be a winner for spectators, but it can provide a financial windfall for clubs via jersey sales. The biggest sports and leagues in the world have adopted this policy and under no circumstance do you see a clash of strips. If it is good enough for the rest of the world, it is good enough for the AFL. No special deals between clubs should be allowed as it only causes angst for all concerned.
