Hamill's Hit on Aker

Post: # 734217Post Saint Pete »

Anyone remember that fantastic night a few years ago when Aker was in his Brisbane colours and Hammil cleaned him up in the centre of the ground early on in the game. Aker squealed for a week about how unfair it was and not in the spirit of the game etc etc. Remains one of my fondest memories. Boy I miss AH.

I miss him too Pete.

For some reason Hamil made ALL - Fans/players alike walk taller when he took the field....you felt like you were going into battle with him.....even jostling at the snack bar for the last warm pie...

Natural leader IMO. Should have held it longer.

Whilst I agree with the overall sentiment, I love that we don't need any one player to lift up our heads at the moment...

Pretty sure it was the game where Milne kicked 11 straight!

Coincidentally Hamill was raised by a Blues supporter at work today in relation to another matter, but make no mistake, Blues fans are still filthy on him being "exited".

Didnt he have a little whine when Jones took him down in the game after someone gave him a hospital pass.

I was thinking about this this morning for some reason.

I remember they had both Hamill and Akermanis on the Footy Show the week after. They asked Aker for his side of it and he got two whingeing words out before a violinist walked out on to the stage.

I was p1ssing myself laughing then Sammy gives his side of the story, and I might be paraphrasing but still have the punchline right:

"If you look at the footage, I'm running hard then I try to pull out - like your Dad should have 30 years ago."

Great call.
