Just interested to hear what everyone has made of his season to date.

He may not be the glamour player of the competition but our finals implosion last year shows how important he is to us.
His grunt work is absolutely great, he also seems to be improving steadily, he could be back to his AA form in no time at this rate.

Bally himself said in an interview recently that his groin problems are all about management !!Joey wrote:I think RL said that he had a bit of soreness in the groin, but all goodsaintly wrote:does anyone know why he started on the bench every quarter? and why he only had 58% of the game.
is he injured?
Bally's an important player, but he has fallen way down the pecking order... Injuries have turned him into a top line toiler, with few offensive weapons...
No doubting his effort and in & under value, but in terms of our midfield potency, I put him 5th or 6th now....
Dal, Lenny, Joey, BJ are all ahead of him for mine, and Gram is touch and go... Different players I know, but it puts his value in perspective...

there was a moment in the game against freo when he took a mark or got a free from a tackle, I can't remember exactly, but as he stood up he grabbed straight for his groin and rubbed it. He then hand-balled to dal straight away who kicked for goal instead, and he kept rubbing his groin for the next few minutes.Joey wrote:I think RL said that he had a bit of soreness in the groin, but all goodsaintly wrote:does anyone know why he started on the bench every quarter? and why he only had 58% of the game.

i remember when it happened thinking I hadn't seem him do that so far this year, and hoping it wasn't gong to be the start of more problems for him. Looks like that may be the case if they are managing his time on the ground
i will miss you bally. but i guess you just didn't want to be here.
heres hoping you are regretting that choice on that last day in september 2010 - go saints.

Yes ignore stats by themselves...for many things impact on how good a players game is.
Ask yourself this..when was Ball's last BOG?
Or even top 3?
I am not knocking ball...but it has been a while since he dominated a football match.
Reality is that at least for the moment that other Saints players have gone past him....at least for the moment.
Now that does not mean that ball is not valuable to the saints for he is. It just means that in the right hear and now that there are other mids more valuable to us than Ball.
However who knows what next week will bring....

I think RL said that he had a bit of soreness in the groin, but all good[/quote]
A North Melbourne player had a similar complaint compliments of John Anthony of the filth.

Which hand did he use to handball.
Don't ever say Dal doesn't sacrifice for the team.

He has been better of late, but he is not the same player he was in 2004-05. It's not his fault, it's just injuries have played their part I think AA is probably too much to ask.Armoooo wrote:He may not be the glamour player of the competition but our finals implosion last year shows how important he is to us.
