I understand Smith loves his club and I think that sort of passion is great, but if he can't view a game objectively he should take himself out of broadcasts involving the doggies.

100% with you Armooo. Thats the biggest problem, his comments are completely wrong. Look at Hird, he's doing a brilliant job stepping into his media role. I think even Hird was laughing at Smith during the broadcast.

Again I agree. GT never has been biased to the Saints. Neither has Eddie to to the pies or even Lane to Carlton or Quartermain to the Hawks.

They should be, within reason, but you have to take it with a grain of salt.

It often swings the other way, like when Stepehn Quartermain had that memorable crack at Hawthorn a few years back - "the greatest fallacy of a football club" or when David Parkin had a swing at the same club for being soft.

Or when Andy Gray is giving punditry on Everton.

I think you have to accept what it is, sometimes. So few people really do remain impartial.

It's a credit that nobody really knows who Mike Sheahan supports (Melbourne?) - or even Dennis Cometti (WB or WCE?) or Bruce McAvaney (Adelaide?). It's also credit to Tim Lane that he largely keeps his Carlton bias in his pocket.

Equally, I actually enjoyed listening to McGuire call Collingwood matches. I actually enjouyed how worked up he got - in fact, because he's got the natural supporter instinct, he used to get worked up for other matches. He just has natural passion.

I mean Roo only kicked 4 goals 5 today, took umpteen marks and generally had the Bulldogs defense in disarray.

Can you imagine how good a game he would have played if he'd managed to beat Morris?

If I was looking for a supporters take on the game I would log onto the WB fan website 'Talking Dogshyte'. At least I wouldn't be expecting a fair and balanced commentary on there.

- Dale Morris NEVER gets beaten, never ever (Fev kicked 3 on him last week, I think)
- Dogs will not let the Saints defense handle the ball as they wish, just won't happen
- Dogs will bounce back and win... because they need to after two horrible weeks.
- And he kept referring to our Rd 3 clash last year when we imploded after a great start to illustrate how good the Dogs are.

plugger you are dead set correct - however this is a thread specifically about Smith - so I dont see your point.

As for Smiths bias. Some people hear what they want to. I heard Smith very early on commenting on the extreme intensity of the Saints and thats why they were winning so convincingly.

He made a judgement call on Morris which is fair enough. It could be disputed that Morris was beaten of not. If Roo could kick straight he could have had 7 or 8 - but he didn't - 4.5 isn't too shabby but not terrific.

Just Rohan Smith and his apparent 'man-love' for Dale Morris.

It got so bad today that he was even questioning Eade moving Morris off Roo in the second quarter as 'too early'.
