New bid to keep Nick
THE talk of a return home to the Gold Coast for Nick Riewoldt won't go away.
It's understood St Kilda is about to open negotiations in a bid to convince him to remain a Saint for life.

""I suppose if I could guarantee a premiership, then I'd be open to just about anything," he (Riewoldt) said."
Mnnnn, what does that mean?
- If he wins one with St Kilda then he could leave...ie job done?
- if the GC could "guarantee" a flag he would leave?
- ?
Then again, I don't think he's leaving and the source of this article is from a town where Banjos are the main mainufacturing output!!!

exactly.Mr Magic wrote:Hutchy doing what he does best - creating a scurrilous rumour out of nothing.
He's taken an article out of Alpha magazine and twisted it with conjecture to create a story he wants to write.
Perhaps Hutchy should just put his right hand down his pants and save us from this nonsense.

Riewoldt ain't going anywhere.
As Fevola did, Brown did, Kerr did, Pavlich did ect.
They say they're looking at all the options, just to keep their dollars up.
The only thing that puts doubt in my mind is;
If we had the room, is Riewoldt worth $1,000,000+ per year? Sure he is, problem is.....how could we afford to match that price?

Means he will go where ever he can play in a premiership winning team.
If Geelong or Carlton had room in their salary cap, he would be prepared to consider them too, but only if they could convince him he would have a better chance of a premiership medal.
If St Kilda were to be premiers this year he would then he would probably stay on in the hope of going back to back.
If St Kilda slip up badly he would probably walk.
The best way to stop Riewoldt going to the Gold Coast is for him to find a girlfriend who refuses to move to Queensland with him and who doesn't run off to Los Angeles.
Time for some loyal St Kilda gal to step up.

Well he's way too young for me (oh and yeah, I'm happily married!), but I have two beautiful daughters and I'd make a great Mum-in-law!

However Armo may be a more likely target to go back.

There you go. It was written by Craig Hutchinson. This is the guy perpetuating the rumour. He is a scum lowlife who has his own agenda. He just keeps making up a whole load of bulls***. You can see why Sam Newman sees right through him and doesn't like the twerp. He might as well write about Jack Riewoldt going back to the Gold Coast it's that relevantBowey Boy wrote:""I suppose if I could guarantee a premiership, then I'd be open to just about anything," he (Riewoldt) said."

Pretty confident Roo wouldn't go and I reckon the GC would be a bit concerned on his age.
Reckon he might be 2 years older than they would really like.
If we are contending as we are now, he wouldn't go IMO, he is a smart man.
Whatever he decides he has my full respect, he continues to give our great club everything he has. Up there with my top 3 or 4 Sainters ever.

Eligible for veterans list in 2013. Might require a heavily back-ended contract(50% of salary applied to cap if on veterans list). The Saintsational Man wrote:Riewoldt ain't going anywhere.

he wasn'ton the footy show last thursday...sam reckoned it was because the pr!ck didn't have anything to report.......so i'm told by my son.....Mr Magic wrote:IIRC, he wrote an article last year telling Richmond to go out and recruit Nick Reiwoldt.
He is nothing more than a muckraker who will create a story out of nothing if he cannot actually find one.
And the more outrageous the story the better he seems to like it.
.everybody still loves lenny....and we always will

I've been thinking a bit about this recently, especially with the talk about Sam Gilbert being approached by GC
Think about it, for the last 6-7 years you've been living in Australia's most liveable city, established a social network, a lifestyle etc etc.
Why would anyone like Roo, with all this in mind, ever want to go back to the Gold Coast?
Its not all about footy and $$$s....

Back-ended contract until he goes onto the veteran's list. It's theoretically doable, but it's more likely he'll be team-spirited and accept a more reasonable contract allowing us to keep him and othersThe Saintsational Man wrote:If we had the room, is Riewoldt worth $1,000,000+ per year? Having just spent a week in Noosa with beautiful autumn days and returning to the dreary drizzle of Melbourne last night I can find the attractions of living in Queensland easy to understand.HardSaint wrote:I've been thinking a bit about this recently, especially with the talk about Sam Gilbert being approached by GC

Having said that, I think that during his football career Roo is unlikely to want to leave as he is clearly a loyal leader and wants success. He is the sort of bloke who will in his own words "drive that bus to the premiership".
He has a lifetime AFTER footy for the sea, sun ,sand and surf.
Hird... The unflushable one is now... just a turd...
