So Well Drilled......COMPREHENSIVE

Post: # 729505Post Teflon »

It is just so great to watch a St Kilda FC team play as a TEAM.

You know the coach has done his job when key mids Montagna/Dal Santo dont dominate yet we completely smash a BOGEY AT THEIR HOME GROUND - a side who last week over here beat the reigning Premiers in Melbourne and many were impressed with. AND keep this side to their lowest first qtr score ever...

The FACT that Dal/Montagna can be down YET still contribute with some fantastic tackles and pressure is a credit to them - and to a coach who UNDERSTANDS that to win (especially in Finals against quality opposition) the ability to exert and maintain defensive pressure is critical.

We are just so well drilled - infact IMO this is the best ALL ROUND game Ive seen from us. You just get the feeling.....we have sides measure..we will WORK to get it.

And what about the "recycled" Lyon talent additions to our club?

Dawson - great again
King/Gardiner (some deft work again in the middle)
Faren Ray - COURAGE again
Sneider - please someone watch this bloke and NOTICE the smart team things he does....
Geary, Jones - even Eddy (who was rusty but understandably so) worked hard for TEAM.

Its early I know and they missed burgoynes but we had talent out also AND players down and smashed them - a side who have beaten us so much.

Congratulations Ross Lyon - its about time we as a club learnt the lesson that CHAMPION TEAM can do so much more.

Jones will probably go unoticed, but he shut down Pearce. Pearce had no impact with only 12 disposals.

Dawson as you said was good, and I can't believe the Doggies called Ray soft, the amount of times he goes head first into contests or runs back with the flight of the ball is amazing. He is also a great overhead mark.

Yep, they are looking good.

Just wait for the usual suspects to say.....yeah, BUT....

Screw them. We are onto something here. I'm gonna soak in it for a while.
