Re: More GOOD News for saints !!
Eastern....we have to maintain the good relationship we have with the umps....( I am led to beleive that we have more frees than any one so far........I know...we are first at the ball..we are infront etc.....but a good run with them is a bonus......who knows how their mind works!!!!) Now... my advice to you melbourne sainters who will attend the game is that you adopt the well established parliamentary principle that rookies can drive you mad with their maiden speech, but you have to suffer it in SILENCE.............treat this ump similarly..........when he makes a shocker decision against us try hard to say nothing..........if you have the urgency to vocalise say..I AM A SAINTER BUT I THINK THAT WAS A FAIR CALL UMP !!!!!!!!!Eastern wrote:The umpires for this week have been announced and we were lucky enough to draw a 1st gamer........................from South Aust !!

would like to point out to our wonderful SA supporters that in no way do I include them in any comment past or future that pokes fun at adelaide morons.
But having come face to face with some port fans I think the chimps would be very upset at my comment...

well it's not easy being green
glad your complying with the AFL directive Eastern- Umpire recognition round
so what number should we look out for?
http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/ ... fault.aspxAll AFL field umpires will wear light green shirts, while goal umpires will wave light green flags, representing some 1800 junior and developing umpires across the country involved in the Green Shirt mentoring program.

I think the umpires were trying to even up the ledger last week against the eagles.
The umps seem to go against you a week after giving you an armchair ride.
This is one of the concerns of modern umpiring IMO -leveling the decisions out.
They always seem to pay a mass of unwarranted frees to the team with the least frees in a game.
I think that the umpires from south australia would be more likely to not pay the frees the crowd calls for than the melbourne based ones because they would be conscious of not looking biased -I hope we get him next week.
I know every year they seem to be worse but are they playing more free kicks than ever this year?
Why can't they just under officiate and let the game flow except when a blindingly obvious free occurs?

Interesting - last week Umpire No. 12 (Sully I think) tried to murder us with frees to WC, particularly in the last quarter where, in our forward 50, he gave WC 7 frees to our 1. Didn't really matter I suppose but wondered at the time if he was a rookie or just a biased WA ump., or both.
Worth noting this morning however, Umpire No. 12 Sully listed to umpire the WC v Bullys game at Subi - perhaps my thoughts last week are correct.
