put it nicely...
The Saints look like Geelong when they've got the footy and Hawthorn without it.
I like that concept

I accompanied former strongman and captain Aaron Hamill and were served up a sublime performance by the Saints.

interesting comments.....
"The ruck duo of King and Gardiner is working exceptionally well and could prove a masterstroke by Lyon – I had my serious doubts about both.
The most impressive aspect of the Saints this year is their work ethic and team focus. Right here right now they would be ranked one and one in the AFL in both categories. Make no mistake they are significant pointers to success.
Most things seem to be coming together nicely for the Saints after a couple of frustrating seasons and full credit must go to Ross Lyon for having the leadership and courage to change his methods and game style to a more conducive brand of football that will definitely challenge late into this years finals. Here’s hoping. "

Well I wouldn't go that far but you don't know what you're going to get from him week to week.chook23 wrote:Exactlysainter35 wrote:Didn't he have us finishing eighth last week and wasn't convinced?

Isnt he allowed to change his mind after a 97 point victory or are only all other people allowed to do it. Some peoples hatred of GT just makes me sick.chook23 wrote:Exactlysainter35 wrote:Didn't he have us finishing eighth last week and wasn't convinced?

If he was that smart a football person or media man would not have such a change of heart as a RESULT OF ONE MATCH.plugger66 wrote:Isnt he allowed to change his mind after a 97 point victory or are only all other people allowed to do it. Oh... a lot of people do that... how many people picked Geelong to beat Hawthorn in the GF? And then, changed their minds about the better team once Hawthorn won...
Geez - never let the facts get in the way of a good story
GT stated that he had the Saints sliding before the season as he didn't know where the improvement was coming from - and judging on the only thing available - the NAB Cup and Challenge - many would have agreed with him.
Last week he said thast but said that after two matches their intensity was up and were looking good.
Why wouldn't he change his mind after Saturday?? Despite the opposition the plain fact is the Saint shave not played this type of football since 2004 and even then they weren't as hard at it at the ball as now.
If you read the article he emphasises at the moment the Saints are the best team in the league.
At the moment - in April - not September.
He echo'd what many thought - that we are play on at all cost with the ball and hard at the pill using a rolling zone when in defence.
Why critisise him for his opinion - which I find usually pretty spot on.
I haven't heard him praised where he applauded the Gardiner /King duo and stated that he would definately have not gone down that track - said that on SEN this morning.
I suppose honesty doesn't get him any kudo's.

There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

I honestly don't believe he wants us to do well... I honestly believe he would've rather stayed 'in charge' and let us fail than stepped aside and seen us succeed, if that's what was required.
If he has changed in a single round from seeing us finishing 8th and is now building us up and comparing us to Geelong and the Hawks, I think it's so he can deride us if we fall short.

there might be an element of him wishing he was a part of it and thinking he could do it better, but you'd expect that.
