I assume you are excluding finals from this assessment ?Eastern wrote:It was Jimmy's best game for the club today. Lets hope he backs it up next week !!

Gwilt has one of the best long accurate kicks in our team (but none are better than Goddard), but so often his decision making when it's in close and quick (and sometimes when he's got space but takes too long to decide what to do) let him down.
Definitely worth persevering with.
Best game was against Adelaide - Q/Final 2005.

BAM
No it doesnt to me. It proves he has ability but still has a long way to go. We one by 100. I reckon you may have looked ok out there yesterday. Sounds like I am having a whinge but we need to realise that there will be much tougher games than yesterday and if Jimmy, Geary and one or two others stand up then well they may have made it.Cairnsman wrote:Fantastic to read this thread.
Does this mean that Gwilt has finally convinced us that he is in the clubs best 22. I liked hearing that people think he is strong with a great accurate long range kick. It sounds like he does great things for our team structure.

He played well. He is improving and he needs to continue to improve.
He gave off a bad handpass that gifted a goal to the weagles but his kicks have depth and can deliver the ball well into the forward line.
He remains a work in progress but he certainly deserves to be acknowleded for his improvement.

I thought he played well after going back (to replace Raph Clarke) against Sydney.
Hard to tell against Adelaide (TV) but I did note his big body caused concerns to Adelaide - you just got glimpses of his positioning.
Yesterday I thought he again caused problems for WCE because of his body, his quick gives in hot contests where he gets the ball or inhibits because of his direct route to the ball aided by his body dimensions (he does not flirt around the side looking for the pill, he puts himself in the direct line and says "go around me if you can") - and, of course, the depth of his kicking.
