8 April - Happy 20th Anniversary!
To quote The Beatles' in Sgt Peppers, "It was 20 years ago today...".
On this day in 1989, we defeated Carlton by a goal from Plugger with 35 seconds to go. He kicked 10.7 for the game. It is still my favourite home-and-away game ever, though Round 22 last year now equals that.
I can't believe it's 20 years. Where has that gone?

Still waiting for closure ... if you get my drift.

If you want to have some fun, ask SOS his memories of that game!ctqs wrote:To quote The Beatles' in Sgt Peppers, "It was 20 years ago today...".

i was there ... one of the great days at moorabbin. the place was seething with excitement and anticipation.
knew a carlton guy who was standing directly behind lockett when he took that kick.
he said the ball did not deviate one inch. it went straight through the middle.
poor old SOS got a lesson that day, but over his career did better against plugger than most.
SOS was one of the few he respected.

what a day. being from the country in SW Victoria at the time, the best radio reception i could get was in our family car parked in the garage. i used to sit in the car listening intently, my dad in the paddock would know when we kicked a goal cos i'd be pumping it into the car horn. it was going nuts in the last qtr.
although i wasn't there, it is a great memory for me nonetheless
