Wow, I got an email from Nick Riewoldt!

Post: # 708292Post B W and R all over »

...in the weekly newsletter sent out to members. Nick wrote all about what is on the saints site.

And it had to be him, because he signed his name at the bottom of it.

Seriously, why does the club really bother to pretend Nick is the one who sends us an email or a text to inform us about what's been happening at the club. Does anyone older than the age of nine actually believe he's sending it?

Just saying.

I'm completely over it. I mean, I was over it from the start, but it's gone into complete overkill and has gone from annoying to an acknowledgment by the club that the members are pretty much, well, stupid.

The Penerith Panther players (NRL Rugby Legue) did a ring around a couple of weeks to generate membership.

Apparently it was reasonably successful. I mean Imagine if you actually received a phone call from Nick asking you to buy or renew your membership.

I remember St Kilda did that a few years ago and we had a call from a player, I was very chuffed.

Seriously does it matter whether they wrote the actual email or not?

North did that last year, I would be very suprised if people didn't renew...

Better yet, what about a call to all the loyal members who have renewed thanking them for their consistent support?

AN OFFER TOO GOOD TO REFUSE

When a rugby league thug rings you up and tells you he knows your name and telephone number and you suddenly realise that he can get your address from the phone book............

Well even I would buy a membership, like how many would you like me to buy.
Whatever number you say just don't hurt me.

All I want for Christmas from Saint Nick is a premiership cup.
Then even I will believe he is Santa Claus.

From a kids perspective (say under 10), it's a sensible idea....they aren't up to the marketing spin quite like us adults yet

Rubbish. It's pretty clear it's not them. So why even bother with the charade?

Just be straight with us. Pretty simple. Luke Ball video message? Sweet. It actually was him.

Give me a break. Ok - so it's not him. Who cares? Some kid who gets the email would be elated regardless. Club can't win with some people.
