Just Confirmed...won't play (most of ) next year
Which rookie gets promoted??

I think they will go for a rookie that shows promise early... no use promoting one if they are not going to be played... if we are so down on players during the year and we need to promote one then the one that deserves it the most and going to play games gets the gig.. no need to promote a rookie before a bounce IMO as we still have 38 fit guys

Shattering... Puts a lot more pressure on Heyne and Lycnh now... because realistically we probably need both of them to crack a spot in our forward line...

Really? Exactly how many games and goals did he contribute in 2008 again?tweedaletomanning wrote:agreed, someone is really going to have to step up!Armoooo wrote:Shattering... It's sad (if true) for the young man, but no doubt we'll soldier on without him if we have to. And there's no pressure on any of the draftees to perform this year; they're still very wet behind the ears. If any of them play a senior game in 2009 it's a bonus.

But thats the reason someone ELSE will have to step up, he was set to be the next forward option to Roo, which we (desperately IMO) need.St DAC wrote:Really? So you think we can play another season with Riewoldt the lone target up front? especially withou Harvey around to hit him up time after time...St DAC wrote:Really? Bad luck Jarryd, another Sainter who has no luck with injuries.
Another thing..very poor by the official Saints site, they have a pic of Fergus Watts with the article. Honestly when i would dream of a job like running an AFL site it really makes me angry to see such a pathetic and clumsy effort. Fergus hasn't even been on the list for 12 months.
Best wishes Jarryd.

No I don't. But expecting a kid who has been at the club for one week to fill in at senior level is frankly beyond comprehension. Kids need time to develop.Armoooo wrote:So you think we can play another season with Riewoldt the lone target up front? especially withou Harvey around to hit him up time after time...
BJ can play forward. McEvoy can as well. Kosi needs to step up as a key forward. Sam Fisher can play forward (we seem to have plenty of backs). There are options.

Don't forget Michael Gardiner. He was a pretty handy pinch-hitting forward. Could do a job leading out of the square.St DAC wrote:No I don't. I would much prefer McEvoy over Gardiner up forwardTrue Blue Sainter wrote:Don't forget Michael Gardiner. He was a pretty handy pinch-hitting forward. Don't wait for the light at the end of the tunnel to appear, run down there and light the bloody thing yourself!

he isn't a big loss as he hasn't exactly done anything of note
it gives lynch, hayne and mcevoy a chance here to really make a name potentially early in their career with consistant games
not the be all end all...one cannot say he was a huge loss either as he has never shown anything whilst playing...not saying he won't
however with the three mentioned above im confident one can stand up and shape a fantastic career

Jesus, the poor kid!
Feel so sorry for him ... had put in the hard yards and done the first two years which are meant to be the toughest ... was probably going to get a big opportunity in 2009 and he goes down with injury like that.
You can say what you like about our drafting, but when our youngsters like Allen get big injuries it makes it tough.
Speedy recover to him and best of luck, hopefully he can still become a solid player for us.

Gardiner is not a forwards bootlace,he proved that in the GF Sydney won...
They should play McEvoy at Full Forward,i just hope he doesn't break his nose trying to mark the pill.....
I hope they draft a couple of tall rookies, other than Haretuku and McGrath
they have 6 Rookie picks left, they don't all have to be midfield types..

Will we pick up a player in the SSP window
shame, I hope this does not effect his mobility when he does come back.
means that lynch and big mac will get forward jobs in the pre-season. big chance to push into contention for the real season

disagree...cahill seems as if he is the developing ruckman...i know i don't really see the point of playing a developing ruckman as a third tall...undecided wrote:every1 seems to b forgetting paul cahill, he is as much of a chance as lynch and heyne
the myth that resting ruckman go into the forward line and kick goals is bulls***...how many did king and gardiner get???
the only ruckman that can do that in the league is ottens and he is in the top 3 one would imagine
