2009 Clash Strip
Whilst l applaud the club for moving from the the previous 'effort' and to looking to our traditions to come up with the current version, However l was a little concerned that the wider white panel may give the appearence of our player being over-weight.
Unfortunatly, l was right!
Looking at Roo wearing the new strip in todays HS, standing among the new recruits wearing the traditional jumper, made him look as though he has been in a good paddock for the last couple of months.
The recruits on the other hand, look fighting fit.
Trivial? Yes, but it's gonna bug me. Another chance 'gone begging'

It's all good.
The old clash strips looked terrible on match day, but I was able to buy a few at the recent clearance quite cheap, and they look OK close up.
This year's version is a big improvement, and hopefully if they change clash strips every year, I'll be able to pick up cheap guernseys at each year end!

Why the wider white stripe?
It sucks big time!
Should have just had the traditional home jumper with a white back!
Is that too hard?
Perhaps the AFL knobpolishers/Demetriou knocked this back and we were once again forced to modify
BUT if not, then IMO they've stuffed up!
The wider white stripe looks awful and again, I won't be buying one!

I don't think anyone will buy one TBH... even if it didn't have the wider stripe why would you buy it when you can get the original... we should have gone with an all together new jersey...

i knew it will be a wider white strip....but not that wide
IMO we dont clash with anyone depending on what shorts we wear. When we wear white shorts we look like a totally different team than in the black shorts.

That's because we flood when we wear black shorts.. and play attacking footy when we wear white shorts.saintdooley wrote:i knew it will be a wider white strip....but not that wide

The lid is off after Round 2! Enjoy the journey, coz you just don't know where we'll end up. Live for today and seize the moment.

Eugh - I thought we told the club we didn't want the wider stripe?
Makes the players look fat. And the fans who wear them = nobody will buy them.
Some minor adjustment to the candy-strip would have been perfect.
F***ing stupid this club sometimes, even on small matters like this.

this is good for overweight people isnt it? people can wear it and when others say "wow, he's a big guy" or "mate go easy on the cake's" you can just say..."no, i really am anorexic, the jumper makes me look fat"evertonfc wrote:Eugh - I thought we told the club we didn't want the wider stripe?

Depends on the occasion Dodger..rodgerfox wrote:Do adults seriously buy footy jumpers to wear in public?
I wear mine purely in the bedroom for medicinal purposes......my wife finds it soothing on her eyes and I get to be called "Banger" for a frantic minute before we all settle down to a good nights rest.
And as for clashes.....theyre all good in there..
But as for in public on adults.......I find it a weird look....I almost feel when I see them like I need to offer money....

While I still prefer the Candy tripe....the new clash strip is a VAST improvement because it looks like a St Kilda jumper!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The 2008 version had no St Kilda identy to it..
You watched the boys playing...and had no real feeling for it being St Kilda that was playing.
With our new 2009 clash strip it is visibly and spiritually a St Kilda top that will get the heart pumping.
The white "rag" top was not that much different from the many other white "rag' tops that other clubs were wearing.
Why the AFL believes there is any value in having such souless and faceless clash strips has me tossed from both a "fan" and "marketing" stancpoint.
Well done to the club....I will watch the boys play in it in 2009 and KNOW that I am watching St Kilda...as will any oppoistion fan...they will know it is the Saints.

Your dead right. It's like they're trying to please the AFL by saying what about this one or this one or how about that one. I don't think much thought has been given to the design. It's a clash jumper just for the sake of having a clash jumper.barks4eva wrote:Why the wider white stripe?
