Tomorrow
Tuesday, December 2 (10am) -- Nomination of scholarship-listed player and international scholarship-listed player to rookie list.
Tuesday, December 2 (10am) -- Nomination of an international player and a player not registered for three years.
Tuesday, December 2 (2pm) -- Uncontracted listed players nominate.
I am not sure what takes place tomorrow. Is this when the Irish lads who have been training with us and other clubs, get nominated as rookies?

Irish lads can NOT be placed on International Scholarships (it would make GAA declare war).
However if the Irish kid turns 18 before the end of 2008 he, like any other International kid, can be signed by a club, an then nominated as an International Rookie on Tuesday.
Once signed as a International Rookie the club may retain the International Rookie for 3 years.
A normal rookie can only be retained for 2 years before they must be promoted to the senior list or face the Main and Pre-season drafts.
But should they not be taken the club can pre-select then for a third rookie year.
Note: Former International scholarship and former NSW/ACT scholarship rookies do NOT count against the limit of 46 senior list + veteran list + rookie players.
The limit is 46 not 44 as stated in my posts elsewhere.
Seems the AFL has increased the number of rookies allowed by 2 due to the compromised drafts in coming years.
In practice this means once McGrath has already been nominated (before Tuesday and will be formally called at the rookie draft) and Haretuku is retained, St Kilda will be able to have 48 players.
2 Scholarship players out of a max of 3 plus 46.
That leaves 6 picks free for the rookie draft, McGath will be called at pick 7 as a formality.
I am not sure if we can pre-select more than 1 international rookie
Pre-selected international rookies would be called at picks 6, 5 etc.

The more you know, the more you know you don't know.

Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.
By the way why do we get 9 picks in the rookie draft?
Not 9 picks but 9 places.
In 2008 St Kilda had 38 players on the senior list with 2 veterans who were both inside that 38.
We had 6 "normal" rookies for a total of 44.
A club can have up to 3 "former scholarship" rookies who don't count against the limit.
Haretuku is a "former scholarship" rookie so did not count within the 44 limit.
The AFL has increased the number of rookie places by 2 because future drafts will be severely compromised by the new teams getting heaps of priority picks.
This raises the 44 limit up to 46.
In 2009 St Kilda has 38 players on the senior list, 1 veteran not on the list
leaving 7 places within the 46 limit.
Haretuku & McGrath do not count among the limit as they are both "former scholarship" rookies.
That gives a total of 9 places with 6 left to be filled as Miles was retained as a rookie.

My source for all the information is AFL Record - Season Guide 2008 page 342 and the AFL-AFLPA Collective Bargaining Agreement, Schedule C
EXCEPT the increase in the limit from 44 to 46
Various newspapers have said the AFL has increased the number of allowable rookies by 2 but never mentioned the limits of 44 & 46 or given any detail.
We all know how reliable and accurate the newspapers are like Ben Cousins coming to St Kilda.
