Elle once photographed in a saints jumper?
http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/ ... 58,00.html
Club officials, much to their surprise, had a prompt response from The Body - a personal email to Kangaroos media man Heath O'Loughlin refusing the offer.
"Thank you for your inquiry," she wrote.
"Alas, I'm not particularly a Roo fan.
"I don't really follow rugby union either, or league any more for that matter.
"Many thanks for the kind offer though.
"Wishing you well, Elle."

Nice idea North but you are twenty years late.
I think Sharon Stezlecki is more suitable to your clubs image.

The bad advice that has guided the selfish and culpable James Hird has not only punctuated this saga but symbolised it..."

I thought soMr Magic wrote:Yes she was - with 2 Saints footballers.
I don't remember exactly, but I think Damien Kitschke was one of them?
so now the trick to re find it-- or did it surface in the last couple of years? http://www.saintsational.com/forum/view ... 30bdebf443

Okay then....
In 1990, what St Kilda player was named junior vice-president of the AFL Players Association?
if that is too hard....
In the same year, who was the Saints #1 female season ticket member?

Elle MacPherson was the no. 1 ticket holder, at the announcement, David Grant and Damien Kitschke were the lucky buggers who kissed her on either cheek for the cameras.
As for the junior vice-president, I don't know, I'd say Grant Lawrie
Similiar connection were made with the Saints a couple of years ago- Alicia Molik- due to a friendship with G was assumed to be a saint,
and an athlete/ runner due to Daly training at Moorabbin.

I used to think Alisa Camplin (aerials skier olympic gold medalist) was hot.
Then I found out she barracked for the filth.
Now I know she is just a dumb blonde who landed on her head too often.

I can understand SS boards' infatuation with JLH, but this photo has always been locked away in memory. And thought the Body would have been a more logical choice. But then we are talking about different eras now. From what I can remember the photo op was one of the first cases of "ambush marketing".

OK this is something I can talk about with a fair bit of authority ... as I set the whole thing up ... with Elle, the club, the media etc.
At the time I was helping the membership committee from a marketing perspective to try to boost awareness about the importance of membership to the finances of the club.
It is amazing to think back then I think we had around 10,000 members.
The Elle stunt was timed to coincide with the big membership push that highlighted that the club kept every dollar of membership but only got a dollar or two from gate entry. This was not understood back then.
I had a very strong personal relationship with Elle's U.S. agent and through that an in with her international manager Stuart Cameron.
I knew that they were coming to Australia to launch Bendon's range of Elle lingerie and I floated the idea via Stuart giving him information of how footy mad Melbourne was and how the stunt could fit in with their planned retail launch and the parade that night.
The St.Kilda administration, then led by Travis Payze from memory were right behind the idea at the time and despite haveing NO MONEY managed to splash out on hiring the old Regent Hotel in Collins Street for the event.
I had every media outlet imaginable in Melbourne coming for it (I am in PR professionally) and it gave the clubs membership drive blitz publicity. I was the MC for the presentation (you can even see me or at least my shoulder in some shots and I was front and centre in the TV coverage) and I have to tell those who are interested that she was fully gorgeous!
The players selected to present the ball and jumper were David Grant and Damien Kitschke (spelling?) but quite a few players attended as well, I guess to ensure David and Damien were OK - ready to step in if needed.
David and Damien had to kiss and re kiss Elle for the media (tough job) but I can tell you that Elle said to David Grant with a big smile "Mmmm nice kissing" ... and you should have seen David Grant blush but a smile never left his face for the rest of the time there.
Elle signed some of the coverage for me the next day and few of her publicity shots in the lingerie (I must try and find some of that stuff) but the biggest kick was membership from memory climbed to about 13,000 that year and there was a huge surge immediately after the publicity.
Unfortunately - and I am sorry if this disappoints anyone - Elle was not a footy fan and certainly not a Saints fan. She was a fan of the publicity she got for the stunt ... with all coverage mentioning her new line of lingerie and Bendon (a NZ company) were even more thrilled. After all how often do you get front page, news pages AND sport pages for a launch ... all of which was lead by the Saints with mentions for the lingerie.
The club was also very happy and for that whole year provided Elle's management with results etc so that if she was asked about it, she was able to give an answer ... so it didn't look like the stunt that it was.
Sorry if this bursts anyone's bubble!

And a certain Club's official photographer who was a member of Recreations Gym at that time took photos of her when she had a 'workout' at Recreations some years ago. If you think she looked good in a Saints jumper you should have seen her in her 'gym outfit'.
I'm not sure if he managed to keep any of the photos as they were taken on behalf of Recreations, but I do know all photos had to be 'vetted' by Elle's managment in case they didn't 'like' any of them.

I have heard from not reliable sources that the Minogue girls are Saints supporters ... but not fanatics in any way as football is not a passion! I think the association is via Michael Gudinski ... but it may be more than that ... not 100% sure
