Hey Stinger...
Next time you catch up with Cowboy, get him to explain this....
The date was the last training before the 1971 Grand Final....
I went to the ground to watch them train and I was standing near the goals at the City end...
Cowboy was doing warm up laps with another player (can't remember)....
as he jog past me, he said to that other player...
I can't wait to the end of this farking season
Don't wait for the light at the end of the tunnel to appear, run down there and light the bloody thing yourself!
Was never blessed with silky skills, but he tried and tried for us in those dark days. He played well above his talent level.
I am still hurting from 71;
my gut churns thinking of 97;
2009 was agony,
2010a was a pleasure to watch only to be devastated by 2010 b.
It hurts barracking for the Saints

Sheesh, I don't think you can be a GOP and make All-Australian.
Favourite GOP...
I'll take Brett Voss any day of the week.
Didn't realise David Grant made AA. I just remember how under-rated he was at a time when the football world gushed over blokes like Silvagni and Kernahan. He was a terrific player and remains one of my favourites.
In recent years I loved the way Andrew Thompson played, never shirked a contest and went in hard. I don't know if Rod Keough qualifies but I loved watching him play.
Andrew Thompson for me.
You could really see by the way he went about it that he was picked up when he was in his twenties and he did not take any game he played at AFL level for granted.
"Another storied win in Robert Harvey's career. They say he is the embodiment of their motto of strength through loyalty, and on the day he became just the tenth man to play 350 league games the saints reward him with a seemingly impossible victory."
