Pick, 1,2 and 4
How did we end up with all of those picks in the year 2000?
I know we used pick 1 and 2 on Roo and Kozi and we traded pick 4 to Carlton for Hamill
Did we trade to get pick 4 or did we have this already... am in thinking in the right years?

We delisted Shane for no compensation. Blight thought he wouldn't recover from an achilles and golden staff infection.
Darryl was traded to Port for pick 4 which was on-traded to Carlton with Sam Cranage for Aaron Hamill. Carlton then used pick 4 on Luke Livingston.

shane had an achilles problem and in the view of the club he would struggle to come backBatnoe wrote:so did we delist shane wakelin then?
I had heard we just released them without compensation, but we really got compensated for him

i dont think we lost out on the Gehrig trade, he was dual coleman medalist
they're hard to find
i think the 16 teams that didnt pick up Kerr with their pick lost out, If Kerr was picked up at number, 3 ,5, 6 7 or anywhere up to pick 18 we wouldnt have had him in which case WC could have picked up a dud and we would have won it in
So if we traded a player for pick 80 and that pick 80 ended up being a star do we miss out? not really, the other 79 picks didnt think they were worth that

You have to be kidding?FortiusQuoFidelius wrote:Also that year we traded Daivd Sierakowski and pick #18 for Fraser Gehrig. West Coast used pick #18 on Daniel Kerr!
Lost out big time there didnt we...
Fraser Gehrig was fantastic for us, had we not had him in '04 & '05, we wouldn't have stood a chance like we did.
He booted 103 and 78 goals respectively in those years.

How the hell would we know? He's still playing, sure, but there's no guarantees that would be with us.FortiusQuoFidelius wrote:I agree, but we would still have him wouldnt we?mick13 wrote:I dont think Kerr would have won us a flag if we had him instead of Gehrig...
What's done is done, Frase was a great player for us, any of the other teams could have Kerr, so it's pretty pointless.

What a stupid post! Siera was a battler at best and FG was fantastic for us. Full credit to West Coast on picking Kerr but that trade was a win for St Kilda no doubt about it.FortiusQuoFidelius wrote:Also that year we traded Daivd Sierakowski and pick #18 for Fraser Gehrig. Do you know why every other team missed out on Kerr? Because West Coast hid him, it's pretty well known that Kerr tanked his U/18 carnival...
As for Kerr getting us a flag, would we have also gotten Cox, Judd, Cousins and Glass if we hadn't have traded for Gehrig?

.......So your analogy concludes that we would have won premierships had we held onto pick 18......most probably picked Kerr......and that would have delivered us a better results in 2004/05.....

I think we won out of that trade with Carlton, even though Hamill didn't play much.
nah, Hamill didn't play much in his last 2 contracted seasons, but played a lazy 100 odd games for us before his knee was rooted.
BUT Sam Cranage was a SUPERSTAR, just no one seemed to believe in him
....and as for Luke Livingston, well, he's another Juddy aint he?
Sorry beggar boys....time I stop now before I have too much fun!!!
