I too cannot understand why Collingwood are rated so highly, they are an ordinary team who will get to the finals courtesy of their cushy draw.

But once there, they will be beaten badly by the clearly superior teams.

Mind you, I hope they flop and end up near the bottom, Eddie will complain that they had too many interstate teams and Mick will blame the overkill of blockbuster games they play.

IMO Collingwood's easy draw never winds up favouring them in the end. For whatever reason, each year they end up dropping games against supposed easy beats. All their blockbuster games means teams wind up gunning for them. They're not a great team to start with, but all factors combine to keep them somewhere around the middle.

That said, one day their draw might end up giving them more than just money and exposure. Some day they may actually beat teams they're suposed to.

Betting odds are about math, not about accurately forecasting the year ahead.

With the weight of money Collingwood will attract regardless, there are only so long bookmakers are going to lengthen their odds before they're simply gambling themselves.
