this stinks to high heaven
demetriou has been a champion of "protecting privacy" for 5 years now.
As soon as a privacy issue conflists with an eddie maquire interest all of a sudden privacy is thrown out the window. if this was anyone else - demetrious would have gone mad - but he is way way to scared to criticise eddie.
shame demetriou shame.
nixon has been used bigtime. i see it this way.
Either
a) she told maquire operational information and shoud be fired for doing so; or
b) she told maguire nothing - and maquires public inferene that she gave him information is an incorrect inferrred slander on cousins involving considerable material loss detrimental to his livelihood and BC could possibly have legal recourse against Maquire/Pies for their comments.
ps - im not a lawyer - and of lawyers ive spoken to - most say defamation is a specialised complex area and is pretty unclear.

i actually respect nixon for trying to turn things around in the police force.
as for what she told collingwood, i would suspect it was nothing you couldn't figure out from reading the newspaper, and collingwood decided to muddy her name as well.
remember collingwood trying to sell naming rights to stuff they didn't own?
remember collingwood covering up numerous player infringements?
remember collingwood refusing to participate in the away jumper scheme?
remember collingwood reneging on a deal with port adelaide over colours?
seriously if you believe anything that comes from Ben Cousins, i'd be happy to call you naive.
if you believe anything that comes from eddie Maguire, i'd also call you naive.
as for andrew dimwit, he's had his head in the sand for so many issues its unbelievable.
the hypocracy of the man, and his organisation is staggering.
frankly if eddie or dimwit said red was red, i'd get a physicist to check it out for me, because my first instinct was the bastards were lying.
draw your own conclusions on cousins, i have, but eddie and dimwit are maggots of the highest order and i wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire.... well maybe i would piss on them if they were on fire, but only if I had to go anyway.

It is a risk to draft Cousins. But what if it pays off?
1) What if he does succeed and makes a sensational comeback?
2) What if he does come back and helps us win the Cup?
3) What if he comes back and ends his career with the Saints and remains Drug Free for Life? This is where the true triumph lays.
For Ben's sake point 3 is the preferred option but I'd take the others as well.
Even if he doesn't succeed, I hope we at least try our hardest to help with his rehabilitation within the club and with his peers because at the end of the day the footy part can sometimes be secondary.

i like nixon.
but the cult of celebrity and the melbourne power crowd may have sucked her in. in her postion she should not even being talking to peopple like eddie maguire.
on a seperate but related issue - it seems that bens issues in the past revolve around crown casino - so im not sure melbourne is the best spot for him.
there is a suggestion that high rolling punters (associates of ben's) are treated like princes at crown and the casino indirectly bankrolls the cocaine liefestyle of its big spending clients. lots of drug deals taking place within the walls of crown. not sure how motivated the police are to take this on. we are talking the big end of town - packer family etc etc.
there is an unholy alliance between casino owners and coke dealers. the two go hand in hand.

at 30/31 with his last in 2007 he played only 7 games due to some injury issues and off field issues, and no game time in 2008, there is a significat risk he is either match unfit or the game has gone past him.
there is also NO guarantee he has successfully dealt with his off field issues.
as for his rehabilitation, its not st kilda's responsibility to rehabilitate him, and if we were going to help people there are far more deserving cases for help than ben cousins.

So why didn't Eddy just ask his best mate Jamie about Cousins and the company he keeps?.... maybe he did.Con Gorozidis wrote: there is a suggestion that high rolling punters (associates of ben's) are treated like princes at crown and the casino indirectly bankrolls the cocaine liefestyle of its big spending clients. lots of drug deals taking place within the walls of crown. not sure how motivated the police are to take this on. we are talking the big end of town - packer family etc etc.

I was just thinking (and yes, it hurts)
If I was was to contemplate employing a person of questionable character in my business, what would my chances be of getting an audience with Christine Nixon to discuss this matter? I would say closer to zero than remote. And, what could she offer without accessing the police database? Probably not much.
I would suggest that the tactics used by Ms Nixon & Eddie Maguire at the moment are tactics that have been used by politicians for donkeys ages;
WHEN FOUND OUT BEING WRONG OR IN TROUBLE, STAY LOW AND SAY NOTHING UNTIL THE CRISIS HAS PASSED, usually a couple of days.
Well, that's what the OP is all about, and my view on it !!

Why is everyone jumping to conclusions that Christine Nixon has done anything as stated in the press?
This secret meeting could have been the Grand Final breakfast and Eddie's just asked a question that more than likely she gave an off the cuff response about "whether or not he'd fit into the Collingwood side, alongside all their other naughty boys"
I'd be sooooooo suprised if she agreed to anykind of meeting with Maguire, "secret" or otherwise.
I'd be sooooooo suprised if she spoke in specifics about anything relating to Ben Cousins and let alone provide any information about police operations (even more so if BC is being targeted)
I'd be sooooooo suprised that she would check any database as it is audited.
I'd be sooooooo suprised she be anything other than extremely guarded in her responses to any kind of questions following the traitorous behaviour of a former assistant commissioner and media director.
And if nothing else, the Office of Police Integrity would be quite happy to come knocking and ask the questions.
The ALFPA has been happy with their response from the Chief Commissioner, so let's recognise what this entire exercise has been-

'ONE BIG BEATUP'
By the CollingFilth Football Club hierarchy, who have set out to deliberately hoodwink and deceive the general public on this issue.

Could it be that the AFLPA is very aware of a much bigger story that could break any time ? !!ozrulestrace wrote:Why is everyone jumping to conclusions that Christine Nixon has done anything as stated in the press?

hang on. i reclon u are probably right. in which case maguire should shut his fat mouth and not use her name to insinuate some "inside high level knowledge" about BC's criminal behaviour when in fact he has none.ozrulestrace wrote:Why is everyone jumping to conclusions that Christine Nixon has done anything as stated in the press?

Who would? While I dont know the full story it seems Nixon is really not well like in the Police Force. The Police Association hates her guts and wants revenge for Mullett and Ashby.Eastern wrote:When it comes to Christine Nixon the Police Association won't be satisfied until they have her scalp, and they wouldn't be too fussed as to how this objective is acheived !!Con Gorozidis wrote:the matter is not put to rest until the police association is satisfied .
forget abut the AFLPA.
Now I wouldn't know either if I fell over them, but that Mullett for one looks like a mean piece of work.
Lance or James??
