No, no, no!!!!!!!!!
Riewoldt is our CHF and we pick the team around him.
Well, according to some we do!
Richardson played on a wing and nearly won a Brownlow at 33 years of age (plus Richmond developed other forwards nearly making the finals), Pavlich plays in the midfield when required there but also goes forward, Lynch cut us up playing in the mid-field etc. etc. etc.

Looks like it will be
B: Gilbert, Hudghton, R.Clarke
HB: Ray, Maguire, S.Fisher
C: Gram, Hayes, Dal Santo
HF: Cousins, Riewoldt, Schneider
F: Allen, Koschitzke, Milne
Foll: King, Ball, Goddard
Int: Armitage, Blake, X.Clarke, Montagna
I'm starting to come around on the Ray trade. If he can do a reasonable job in Gram's spot, Raph play in BJ's spot and Goose makes a good return then our midfield is looking pretty damn good - Hayes, Goddard, Cousins, Ball, Dal Santo, Gram, Montagna, S.Fisher Armitage and X.Clarke all rotating through would be pretty deadly.
If we could snare a Westhoff-quality player in the draft then we would be very, very dangerous. Hopefully Allen comes on anyway.

Good effort, however I would Baker and M Gardiner in the 22 ahead of Armitage and Blake. Expect Blake to not get games if Maguire and Hudghton are fit.mad saint guy wrote: B: Gilbert, Hudghton, R.Clarke

Jones also stiff to miss.
Agree 100% with Allen - we need to get games into him

Not sure if you realise but you havent played Baker because he needs games. At the start of 2009 they will all have played the same amount of games. Nil apart from practice matches.mightysainters wrote:FB: Gilbert Hudghton R Clarke

i agree that roo would make a brilliant winger. he'd also make a magnificent centre half back. no argument about it. he's a brilliant footballer. To the top wrote:Richardson played on a wing and nearly won a Brownlow at 33 years of age (plus Richmond developed other forwards nearly making the finals), Pavlich plays in the midfield when required there but also goes forward, Lynch cut us up playing in the mid-field etc. etc. etc.
but there's a reason that teams tend to play their big guns ... lockett, carey, franklin, j. brown, etc ... closer to the goals.
it's because to win games you have to outscore the opposition.
we place too much emphasis on defensive pressure and nowhere near enough on scoreboard pressure.
hawthorn won it this season with a very attacking gameplan and a forward line that almost looked as if it was based on our 2004 line-up, gehrig/riewoldt/milne/hamill/guerra/kosi etc.
two gun key forwards in franklin and roughhead, first class support and, of course, quick and regular delivery from a dominant midfield.
we used to regularly hand out spankings to them and it would have left an impression.
if we are to challenge, our big priority (along with some more class in the midfield) is to find a full forward who can kick 70 or more to compliment riewoldt's 70-odd.
goddard's the only one on the list who i think can.
kosi will play out his career as a ruck/forward.
allen needs to show a lot more than the 23 he kicked at a lesser level this season.
gwilt, i like as a player, but he kicked only three for 2008.
ferguson kicked only points in his sole game there.
gilbert is earmarked as a future full back.
fisher, perhaps, but i think bj would do it better.
charlie doesn't kick enough goals.
Ross has shown by his conservative selections that his priorities are defence and midfield. he needs to re-think that and numbers-behind-the-ball for us to challenge.
like a good Test batsman, he has had a look around and dug in. but he's been there long enough to start playing some shots.

im 100% behind your post. you are spot on i reckon. good looking team. and allen is the key. we need him to come on or fluke a young tall forward in the draft.mad saint guy wrote:Looks like it will be

maguire is my only concern - ased purely on his medical situation. hopefully he can recover properly.
i reckon jack steven will push hard too. x still uncontracted?

I can't believe the nonsense people get away with on this forum:
BAKER IS NOT INJURY PRONE! He got injured. It doesn't make him injury prone.
when you get an injury, it doesn't make you injury prone.
if you kick a goal, it doesn't make you a good kick for goal.
when you drop a mark, it doesn't make you 'poor overhead'
and when you're 18 years old in your first year, you don't get delisted for not being 'up to standard'
some people write really insightful stuff on this forum, but some people have very non-complex brains... or short memories.

SKFC has now been confirmed as the AFLs BITCH
heres what id like to see:)
FB Gilbert Max Baker
HB Raph Blake Dal
C Gram Hayes Joey
HF Fisher ROO Goddard
FF Schneider GOOSE milney
R.R King Ball Cousins.
INTER Kosi Armo Ray X
we have, max to take, the sit at home power fowards, and blake to take the more areobic ones.
gilbert and raph will take the 3rd tall or a small,
but they will chop off any stray kicks into the foward line (like against the pies)
baker back, will be a god send, toughens the backline up, and he will take the best small foward.
i thought, with dal struggling with the tag, try and let him be the quarter back, like H.Shaw,
let him control the game.
center line is pretty obvious, got the hard in and unders in ball, hayes, and cousins, with joey and gram, gettting the outside handball, and then drilling it to someone on the lead.
(ray armo, x ,goddard, dal, raph can all go through the middle)
(yes even raph)
foward line is alot different, but we need it,
we now have 4 genuine targets,
and 2 crumbers.
i think we all know fisher and goddard can do it.
(id like goddard to do the ROK role though, float up into the middle)
i think allen isnt quite ready yet,
but i think gooose could quite easily slip into the fraser role,
he is a BIG! boy, and he is couragous, sit him at full foward, and see what happens, we have nothing to loose, and we have a big power foward to gain if it works out.
