The trade I'd accept for Kosi and Dal
If we were to trade Kosi, to me the only player who would meet the criteria to improve on his impact in the forward line would be Pavlich.
Kosi could relax in Freo, Pavlich would finally play for a team that wants to win a premiership.
As for Dal Santo, a swap for Kerr and Pridis.
That improves our midfield depth and improves our list.
However, as neither of these deals is likely what we really need in my opinion.
Kosi to improve his goal kicking from 30 to 45 next season, or average 2 goals a game.
We need a fully fit Luke Ball, X and improvement from Armitage to help the mid field rotations and therefore give Dal a better chance to shake his tag, or not get tagged because one of our other midfielders is doing too much damage.
As I said before, we need smart recruiting to improve depth and give us more options.
Two things we desperately need, another good midfielder and more importantly a 3rd target up forward who can provide another 30 goals next season.
This will make it harder for teams to double team Roo and Kosi and further improve both Milneys and Schneider's opportunities.
Good teams don't trade away their good players, and good players only leave because they don't want to stay.
Kosi and Dal are good players and both want to stay, what they need and the club needs is more options to help and pressure them to play good football to keep their places in the side.

Well yes I would do those deals.3rd generation saint wrote:If we were to trade Kosi, to me the only player who would meet the criteria to improve on his impact in the forward line would be Pavlich.

.
But lets be serious....they are are hardly equal and so could never happen.
Pavlich is a superstar....Kosi just has potential...and is basically just a good solid player who will occassionally impact games in parts.
Kerr is better than Dal by himself....but Dal for Kerr and Priddis is just ridiculous.

Could you imagine how much better our team would look just with those two trades? I know it's completely unrealistic but still...The Saintsational Man wrote:3rd generation saint where do you get your party gear from?
Sounds like some good stuff, I want in!!!
Forward line would be the most potent in the league, midfield group would be drastically improved, particularly if Armo and Steven develop as well, and our defence is among the best in the league already...
The Saints are coming!

While I don't think there is any chance of either being traded, these are some realistic trades I would accept
Dal Santo to WC for Seaby, Pick 18
Koschitzke, Pick 47 to Sydney for O'Keefe, Pick 29
Lose:
Dal Santo
Koschitzke
Pick 47
Gain:
Seaby
O'Keefe
Pick 18
Pick 29
Draft Picks 13, 18, 29, 31, 63, 79, 95
Dal Santo to WC for Seaby, Pick 18
Koschitzke, Pick 47 to Sydney for O'Keefe, Pick 29
Lose:
Dal Santo
Koschitzke
Pick 47
Gain:
Seaby
O'Keefe
Pick 18
Pick 29
Draft Picks 13, 18, 29, 31, 63, 79, 95

thats the problem, kosi has potential. yet, that potential after 7 years has not been realised.!saintsRrising wrote:Well yes I would do those deals.3rd generation saint wrote:If we were to trade Kosi, to me the only player who would meet the criteria to improve on his impact in the forward line would be Pavlich.

Send Dal and pick 31 to Freo for Pick 3 and Warnock.
(hope WC selects Natanui so we can take Daniel Rich)
Send Kosi and X to Port for Pick 4 (Choco loves a challenge!)
Draft Michael Hurley.
Send Jarryd Allen & pick 13 to Richmond for Pick 8 and Dean Polo
(Hope Jack Ziebell gets to pick 8 otherwise take Michael Walters)
We get
Rob Warnock (ruckman)
Pick 3 - Dan Rich (best midfielder from WA in 5 years)
Pick 4- Michael Hurley (best key defender & possibly a better CHF)
Pick 8- Jack Ziebell/Michael Walters/etc (best available mid)
Dean Polo (midfield depth)
We lose
Dal
Kosi
X
Pick 13
Pick 31
I would argue that we are a better, quicker & more potent team in 2009 & set ourselves up as a real power team when Rich, Hurley, Ziebell all hit their straps in 2010.
Do it Rossco! You know you want to!

C'mon Ralphy, it's a good harmless fun. We all wish we were in the position to make these decisions and say I told you so.ralphysaints35 wrote:not long to go untill trade week starts cant come any quicker i say.
will shut these stupid rumours down. so much crap
They're not rumours anyway, rumours usually contain some fraction of truth. All of these trade 'whispers' are just whispers between people's own ears.

I don't mind your proposed trades at all AE... Wouldn't mind having a crack at De Boer at one of those picks though hypothetically, he is going to be a gun IMO.Animal Enclosure wrote:C'mon Ralphy, it's a good harmless fun. There's mixed reports on De Boer.... some say gun, some say GOP, some say dud.True Blue Sainter wrote:I don't mind your proposed trades at all AE... Walters is the one in our current mix (pick 13) that is going up teh charts with a bullet. Quick, very athletic and a damn good footballer.
I'm a huge wrap for Rick... If Melb take Watts then I reckon they'll be asked Why not Rich? for years to come.
Hurley is pigeon holed at present as a fullback. Personally I think he could be a ripping CHB/FF. He's got some mongrel in him & adores the Sainters too.
I'd pull the trigger on those trades in a nano second. IMO we need to reinvigorate this club & get top line talent in ASAP. I am a bit concerned about what will happen if Ross & co are conservative in their recruiting.

First of all, every one of those trades is grossly weighted in our favour. Second, who plays forward with no Kosi or Allen? I don't think we'd much much of a threat with Gwilt and Charlie Gardiner our two key forwards bacjing up Roo.Animal Enclosure wrote:We get

You're right MSG they are... just as other supporters are saying 3rd round pick for Kosi & Dal is worth a 2nd rounder!
Forward line wise getting Hurley would either
a) release Sam Fisher forward
b) play Hurley fwd
c) Get games into McEvoy
d) Go with a smaller forward line.
It's just a bit of fun & all speculation. I obviously rate Rich very highly & think he's a Luke Hodge like talent in 3-4 years time (although he'll have a Rhys Palmer like 2009). I'd sacrifice Dal as I'm not sure we'll ever get more out of him. Brilliance one week, rubbish the next.
I'm in the camp that believes that we'll go backwards pretty quickly if we maintain the status quo. I don't want players from other clubs (except Warnock), I want as many young talented kids into this club as possible.

The reason I put this one up was because a lot of people who are advocating trading Dal & Kosi but not saying who we replace them with.
Kosi an average player, kicked 30 goals this season, we have to replace those 30 goals to break even.
Dal is a gun mid fielder when he's going, we need to replace him with a similar or better player, who will get tagged just like Dal.
Now I believe the reason we played in a Preliminary Final this year was from our smart recruiting this time last year.
We got Schneider, Dempster and King for a song and lost no players in the process.
These players improved the team and improved our depth.
We need to find similar deals this time and not trade away good players for the hope another player is happy to join us, or a potential superstar.
Remember Kosi, Fiora and Beetham were all top 10 picks and there are plenty of others at other clubs who probably did worse.
We aren't as far from a premiership as some people think, remember we beat the premiers during the season.
