So therefore Harvey, Burke, lowe, winmar are worse than say Mark johnson because Johnston won a flag?

Premierships don't matter.

At their respective bests, I'd still take Judd then Hodge then Ball ...

That is the correct order.

Gun!

I wish SS had a Thumbs up icon.

Ah well!

I thought Sewell had the Norm wrapped up but then again, to put the Cat's forward line under THAT type of pressure - well!

Gun!

Only thing that is clear is that Ball is so far behind the others, that nothing short of a Brownlow would bridge the gap.

You are kidding, right? A fit and uninjured Luke Ball would MORE than match Judd and Hodge!

Maybe you should go back and watch some of his games and the impact he has had in the last 3-5 years when he has been fit and not under an injury cloud. Pre his Osteitis Pubis woes and also he showed some glimpses this year.

The point with Hodge is that he has generally failed to command the midfield as Judd has done and Bally once threatened to do

Hodge is a good kick, attacks the ball without fear, is as tough as nails and reads the game extremely well. Although he is an entirely different sort of player, he has joined Lindsay Gilbee as one of the two most complete "quarterbacks" (or, if you prefer soccer analogies, liberos) of modern AFL. Our own Aussie Jones was actually a bit of a groundbreaker for the development of this role, as has McLeod when he plays back. But Hodge and Gilbee are the best I've seen

He never quite starred in the middle of rhe field as we might have expected, because he isn't quite as slick with his evasive and handpassing skils as the best of the best

It was a brilliant coaching move by Clarkson to create a new position for Hodge down back a couple of months ago: the most effective structuring of a team around a key player I have seen since Pagan's Paddock

Bomber Thompson should hang his head in shame for not doing better to counter Hodge than putting the likes of Stokes and Rooke on him. Next season, we will surely see Hodge tested with better matchups than this

Anyway, I prefer to think about footy this way than get into endless circular arguments about who should have picked whom in the draft of 400BC

Have a good day y'all

That's right. Q Lynch will always stand high above Ablett Senior and Plugger in the AFL Hall of Fame. And Lewis Roberts Thompson is the sort od elite player all-time that Harvey and Buckley can never hope to be

Well, at least that's how many of the Saintsationalista seem to see it

I remember for a few seasons after that draft the Hawks were accused of getting it wrong but they maintained the belief that when he was able to get himself fit and trouble free he would vindicate their selection.....

He's a great player ,plays his back line role to perfection...

Will we pick up a player in the SSP window :?:

Both guns. Judd: Norm, Browlow, Premiership, 2 Grand Finals, numerous B+F's. Hodge: Norm, Premiership etc.

I still rate Judd higher, though both are stars. Ball isn't in their class anymore. A fact we have to deal with.
