That's a very guarded comment by the journalist which might conceivably be based upon inside knowledge but could still be defended as a truthful comment if came straight out of the journo's imagination.the Saints' bargaining power is set to start with their first pick (No.13) and contracted, but out of favour, midfielder Nick Dal Santo.
ie
"bargaining power is set to start" is not saying the same thing as "Saints are planning to offer" It could simply mean that, in the view of the journo, this is what they would have available to offer - if they chose - to get Kerr.
"contracted, but out of favour, midfielder Nick Dal Santo" Out of favour with who? The coach? (no, he said he wanted him) The club? (Who knows) Some noisy supporters? (definitely, but since when did that matter)
If pressed, the journo could defend himself by saying "of course Dal is out of favour, he was dropped once during the season".
In other words, take this with a big grain of salt.
"It is useless to attempt to reason a man out of a thing he was never reasoned into."

Don't take everything you read as gospel at this time of the year.
There is a fair bit of journalistic licence being taken with that article. The only things I would take as written are the quoted items by Paul Roos.
The rest is unconfirmed and potentially made up.

says saints are interested and looking at kerr and propbably discussing a package with quote :
"while the Saints' bargaining power is set to start with their first pick (No.13) and contracted, but out of favour, midfielder Nick Dal Santo."
NDS will be staying.
saints will probably offer less than that and see where WC decides to push it.
too many teams like power, swans, collingwood that have higher picks than us as barganing tools.
st.kilda would have to trade up to get a higher pick in the top 5-10 and it seems unlikely
best chance is cousins IMO - and more likely

The 3 way I see is that we offer our number 1 pick to Swans for O'Keefe, sure No. 1 is very high but we may get something else from sydney like their no. 2 pick.
The Swans will then have 2 first rounders to offer WCE, the 2 top 10 picks is simply an ambit claim, so WCE trade Kerr to Sydney for 2 first rounders.
Then we use the second rounder Sydney give us to trade for Andrew Lovett, we still keep our own 2nd rounder but we may get O'keefe and Lovett in the trade.
These 2 players are exactly what we need.

the journalist's source is probably this website.
pure speculation and i'm more inclined to believe ross's comments from a few weeks ago when he ruled out trading dal santo or kosi.
(dal AND No. 13 for kerr) gimme a break. we couldn't be that stupid ...
... could we?

...and we know how much is made up these days... take yesterday's front page article in The Age regarding Jemes Hird's "comeback"...SENsaintsational wrote:Don't take everything you read as gospel at this time of the year.
