A champion team will always beat a team of champions.
Out- Harvey Gherig C.Gardiner Fergusson
Trade NDS and either L Fisher or Fiora as a sweetener (or both?)
Rookies ??No idea would think that Eddy will be promoted and Mini must be a chance.
Like to see at the club, a key forward for NDS (possibles Hall, J.Reiwoldt, Boyle+?)
Cousins in the PSD and a quick player with our first pick.

If anyone thinks we can snag a Kerr or Cousins without trading a Dal Santo or Kosi are seriously deluded.
Not saying it is the right way to go but will not happen unless we are prepared to give quality or potential in return.
Lyon WILL NOT trade 1 st or 2nd choices for either Kerr or Cousins IMO

We dont need to do anything to get Cousins. Matter of fact we cannot trade for him.saint patrick wrote:If anyone thinks we can snag a Kerr or Cousins without trading a Dal Santo or Kosi are seriously deluded.

So the Eagles get Zilltch for him???
Think Cousins would be a massive risk and he belongs at Eddieland
Kerr would require a decent trade or a 1 st or second pick.

How on earth do Rix and Fiora have multiple season contracts? They will go down in St Kilda history with such names as Newport, Anderson, Bingham, Strooper and Arnol. Absolutely incredible....Otiman wrote:Also has a year on his contract.Batnoe wrote:I forgot about Rix- Gawn!!!!!!!!
Don't think it's worth paying off blokes like Rix and Fiora unless we're going to replace them with high-ish draft picks.
As I said last year - you need blokes to delist next year as well.

Yep spot on thought the same thing.RodKeoghsLoveChild wrote:Why in the world would anyone elevate Mcqualter?
Is it for his pace? His awesome kicking ability or the way he wins the ball so well?
The guy is a tagger who offers absolutely nothing.
Get rid of him.
Im sorry I hear he was a super jnr - thats great.
Ive seen a short, slow, 30m kick who does moderate shut down jobs and cant win posession (he had 4 on weekend).
Hes just not up to it.
Why does it take St Kilda 5 yrs and another ferguson/barry brooks moment to get this?
Birss MUST be retained and is much better for depth AT LEAST he can shut down AND score when goes fwd.
“Yeah….nah””
Anyone who thinks that Dal should be traded simply dont know anything. He is one of a dozen players that need to be kept so that we have a decent chance at winning a premiership.
No point trading dal then getting kerr. we simply give up one of our best players for another one. our problem is that we need quality mids and trading dal will not sort this problem out. we should target kerr some other way by giving the eagle say our 1st and 3rd rounder and possibly someone like leigh fisher/fiora/birss/c.gardiner/mini.
in my opinion we are one 2 quality mids away from a premiership. if the eagles would take the above deal that would be great. and another thing we simply must try and get cousins to the club with psd pick. the guy is an absolute freak and would probably be our no1 midfielder. if we can get these two, we would be a major force next season.

Eagles will want more than a 1st and 3rd rounder with a fringe player, we will need to give up quality to get Kerr and if Dal could be traded for Kerr without hurting our draft selections to much then I would do it in a heart beat, you would be trading for a gun PROVEN midfielder for a gun player that has skill but is very lazy at times and is also an outside player that simply does not make it happen but is very good when someone else is doing the hard yards and getting the ball out to him.S.A Saint wrote:Anyone who thinks that Dal should be traded simply dont know anything. That chase through the midfeild on Saturday night from Dal made my blood boil and the Hawks players let him know about it after the goal was kicked, its just not good enough, someone like Kerr would give you 25% more to the team IMO.
Forget the past, Saints footy, One better in 2010
saint mik i don't think the eagles would do a straight swap for dal we would have to offer them our second rounder as well. if it was a straight swap then i would lean more towards kerr. however eagles would want dal and some other kin of bonus.
we really need to get quality mids and fast. especially players that have the grunt and hardness that hayes has got. ball has that but is injured always and hampered in some way. hopefully with a solid preseasn under his belt can improve.

I'd love to get Kerr, but I think he's out of our reach.
I think we could have a real crack with a couple of these players on our list, our depth would be largely increased.

Do you people know anything?
Our ruck division is King, M. Gardiner, Rix and McEvoy.
And we "pinch hit" with Koschitzke and Blake, neither of whom has the body mass and height to ruck.
King and M. Gardiner are the ages they are, plus they have had injury disruptions over the later stages of their careers.
That said, King put in the season he did and M. Gardiner was making real progress (from a desperate gamble after his journey with West Coast then missing his first season at St Kilda) until injured against Sydney - his making the team and what he was then bringing was a decided bonus including because of his aggression - as was his late return with Casey.
Rix was the insurance behind King and M. Gardiner (and that is his status) and got one game, was found wanting not to be tried again no matter M. Gardiner's absence and McEvoy's inexperience.
So how many genuine ruckmen are we going to retain?
Do we go back to Rix?
Or are we going to draft another McEvoy and trust he stands up in his first year in the AFL system, along with McEvoy? And pigs may fly!
Simply, in my view, and given their performances, King and M. Gardiner are required players in 2009 - and behind them we have the developing McEvoy and Van Reehan.
And if we get really stuck again because one of King or M. Gardiner is unavailable, and McEvoy needs more time and experience, then we will have to again "burn" the 197cm, 98kg Koschitzke rucking.
Unless you are Thomas and believe ruckmen are not necessary!
The recruitment of M. Clarke and M. Gardiner and King says the current Coach has a different view to the previous occupant.
Although I still think Brook's departure was premature, recognising that his 198cm and the rule changes conspired against him rucking and consigned him to a forward/ruckman role.
The Coach went for genuine ruckmen.
There is the message.
